Saginaw County Animal Care & Control is an open-admission shelter dedicated to providing compassionate care and second chances to animals in need. We house over 90 dogs and 30 cats, working closely with local and statewide rescue organizations to help every animal find a new beginning. We offer both volunteer and foster programs and are always looking for committed individuals to join our efforts in making a difference. Adoption Fees and What’s Included

Cat Adoption Fee: $50
All cats receive:
-Spay/neuter
-FIV/FeLV testing
-Rabies, FVRCP, and FeLV vaccines
-Deworming and flea/tick prevention
-Microchip
-General wellness exam

Dog Adoption Fee: $125
All dogs receive:
-Spay/neuter
-IDEXX 4DX test
-Rabies, DAPP + Lepto, Bordetella, and Lyme vaccines
-Deworming and flea/tick prevention
-Microchip
-General wellness exam
All adoptable dogs are temperament tested. We require a meet-and-greet with any children or existing dogs in the home before adoption. Donations are accepted in person during business hours or through our wish lists linked on our page. Community Expectations:
We’re grateful for the support of our community and ask that all comments remain respectful and constructive. Pancake is the kind of girl who loves being wherever her people are. Whether you're giving her pets, sitting together, or just enjoying each other's company, she's more than happy to be your little shadow. ❤️

Meet Harvie, the blue-eyed cowboy who's ready to ride off into the sunset… preferably with YOU! 🌅💙

Now, Harvie might look like a serious sheriff in that cowboy hat, but don't let those baby blues fool you. This 1-year-old is 49 pounds of excitement, personality, and pure puppy enthusiasm!

He's got places to go, things to sniff, and adventures to experience. The only thing missing? Someone to share them with. 🥹

🥹❤️ Sometimes the right dog just needs the right match. And Sully is still waiting for his.

Our sweet Sully recently got a taste of what it feels like to have a home. While his adopter adored him, they realized they weren't quite the right match for his size and strength. So, through no fault of his own, Sully is back with us and hoping his next chapter is the one that lasts. ❤️

But here's what we REALLY want you to know…

His adopter had SO many wonderful things to say about him. And we think the world deserves to hear just how amazing this boy was in a home! 🥹

📝 SULLY'S REPORT CARD FROM HOME:

🏡 House manners? Seemed potty trained and settled beautifully into home life!
🚗 Car rides? A perfect passenger who hops right in and relaxes in the back seat!
💕 Affection? Thinks he's a lap dog, despite being 63 pounds!
🐾 Walks? Once he's outside and settled, he walks nicely on leash!
🤫 Barking? Hardly ever! But he does make the cutest little grumbly love noises.
🦴 Sharing? No issues sharing resources with his adopter!
❤️ Overall? A loving, friendly boy who was wonderful to have around.

At 5 years old, Sully has already shown us just how much love he has to give. He's a strong boy who needs someone comfortable handling his size and excitement, but underneath those 63 pounds is a big softie who just wants to be loved.

And the hardest part? Sully got to experience the comforts of a home, even if only for a little while. Now we're hoping someone will give him the chance to experience that feeling again, this time for good. 🥹

Thank you to our recent adopters! NINE DOGS left with their new loving families the past few days.

Our BIG DOGS, LITTLE ADOPTION FEES EVENT is still going on now through Oct 31st. All dogs over 40 lbs already spayed/neutered can be adopted for just $25!

Our kitties are still on break from adoptions as we wait out a cautionary quarantine, but we reopen for CAT ADOPTIONS on November 1st!

🎤✨ PAWS UP, LITTLE MONSTERS! LADY GAGA HAS ENTERED THE CHAT! 💖🐾

She was born this way… fabulous, independent, and full of personality! 💅

Our very own Lady Gaga is serving looks this Halloween, and while her costume may be stealing the spotlight, there's a whole lot more to this girl than her superstar name!

At 7 years young and 51 pounds, Gaga is a strong, spirited lady who knows what she likes. She's not necessarily looking to be the center of attention 24/7. Sometimes a girl just wants to do her own thing, and we respect that! 💕

🎶 A few things about our superstar:
🐾 Independent girl who appreciates having her own space
🍖 Loves her treats and takes them gently!
💪 Strong on leash, so an experienced handler who can help her work on her leash manners would be ideal
🐶 May do well with a calm canine companion after a proper introduction
🏡 Would love a patient, understanding home where she can build confidence at her own pace

Gaga might not be the kind of girl who falls head over heels at the first meet and greet. But that doesn't mean she doesn't have a whole lot of love and companionship to offer someone willing to get to know her. ❤️

🐈❤️ HAPPY NATIONAL CAT DAY! ❤️🐈

There’s just something special about being owned by a cat. The gentle purrs, the surprise head bumps, the silly zoomies at 2 a.m., the insistence on sitting directly on whatever you’re trying to do, and the way they somehow make a house feel more like home. Cats have a way of stealing our hearts (and sometimes our favorite chair!), and we wouldn't have it any other way! 🐾

We know many of you are eager to welcome a new feline friend into your family, and we appreciate your patience while we've been under a precautionary quarantine and temporarily paused cat adoptions.

But don't worry! Our feline friends are receiving excellent care during this time. They're enjoying playtime, enrichment, and plenty of attention from our team. Best of all, our kitties remain happy and HEALTHY! ❤️

🎉 The countdown is on! We can't wait to reopen cat adoptions on November 1! We have some wonderful kitties waiting for families to call their own, and we look forward to helping them find their purr-fect matches.

🚒🔥 SOUND THE ALARM! THERE'S A NEW FIREFIGHTER IN TOWN! 🐾

Firefighter Domino is reporting for duty, and he's got one very important mission: finding a family to love! ❤️

Now, we can't promise he'll put out any fires, but we have a feeling this handsome boy could spark something pretty special in someone's heart. 🥹

At 5 years old and 62.5 pounds, Domino is a Border Collie/Lab mix with a whole lot of personality, brains, and love to offer!

🦇 Gotham has Batman. Saginaw has MAXWELL! 🖤💛

Our handsome 2-year-old superhero suited up for Halloween, but we'll let you in on a little secret... getting Maxwell into his Batman costume was a bit of a mission! 😂

You see, Maxwell has been having a really hard time with shelter life. The noise, the kennel, and all the excitement can be overwhelming for him. But underneath that stress is a sweet, goofy boy with SO much love and personality just waiting to shine. ❤️

And this superhero has some pretty great qualities!

🦸 Knows his commands like sit and down!
🦴 Loves treats and is eager to learn.
🐕 Has enjoyed playgroups with other dogs, especially playful friends!
🚶 Does well on walks once he has a moment to settle.
🛁 Even enjoys baths and grooming!
❤️ Has a big personality and an adventurous spirit.

The hardest part about Maxwell's story is knowing that the boy you see in his kennel isn't the whole story. We've seen glimpses of his playful, loving side, and we wish more people could see that version of him, too. 🥹

Maxwell doesn't need to be a superhero. He just needs someone willing to be his. Someone patient enough to help him navigate new experiences, give him time to adjust, and show him what it feels like to be safe and loved.

Because behind that Batman costume is a very real dog who deserves his own happy ending.

BREAKING NEWS: A very rare bird has been spotted at SCACC! 🐦 💗

She's big, she's beautiful, she's wearing pink, and she's apparently VERY interested in finding a nest of her own. 😂💕

Meet Birdy! And yes, we absolutely dressed a dog named Birdy as a bird for Halloween. How could we not?!

But as adorable as she looks in her costume, it's her personality that really makes this girl special. 🥹

Birdy is a 3 years old, 81-pound American Bulldog with one very important mission in life: getting as much love and attention as humanly possible!

And she's got plenty of wonderful qualities to go along with that big smile!

💗 She's a total lovebug who wants to be near her people 24/7.
🐾 She's a wonderful walking companion who takes her time and does great on a leash.
🥰 She's friendly, affectionate, and happiest when she's getting attention.
🧠 She's a smart girl with lots of potential to learn!
🏡 She could be a wonderful companion for someone looking for a big, loving best friend.

Birdy has previously lived with other dogs, and we think a calm, low-energy canine companion could be a great match for her! If you have another pup at home, a dog-to-dog meet and greet will be required before adoption to make sure everyone gets along. 🐶

And while her Halloween costume might have wings, there's only one place this Birdy really wants to fly...

🐾 Ninja made his Wet Nose Wednesday debut with our friends at 96.1 WHNN!

He was a little shy at first, but quickly showed what a sweet, gentle love bug he is. Ninja did great meeting children, enjoyed every treat and absolutely loved riding in the passenger seat. He simply wants to be wherever his person is. 🥹🚗
