Mayor Todd Gloria is proposing to cut the team within transportation responsible for making our streets safer and more multimodal. We need the voices of advocates to stand up for safety. Join us in calling our representatives and speaking in support of the team this Friday at 9am and next Tuesday!

Happy 70th Annual Bike Month!
This year, we’re doing something a little different. Our Bike Month fundraiser is peer-to-peer, which means you can share a personal fundraising link with your mom, your grandparents, your coworkers, whoever! If 100 people each give a little, the network effect adds up fast and we can ensure the Bike Coalition can continue the battle for safer streets day after day. Join us! See the link in our linktree to join.
The top fundraiser will be rewarded with the Hilary Dufour tee, a Bike Coalition Cap, a Pride tote bag, and some locally roasted coffee from Café Suavecito!
Those who raise $500 or more will receive complimentary registration for the Bike the Bay ride, San Diego’s biggest bike event of the year!
Don’t be shy about asking your network! Supporting the Bike Coalition is one of the most effective ways to foster better biking in San Diego. It’s our full-time job: educating youth and adults, helping schools launch bike buses, and rallying for safer streets for everyone. Join us and show your support by fundraising for your own team in Givebutter!

Before ➡️ After. This is what happens when the City of San Diego invests in safe streets!
The team behind these transformations is on the chopping block. Mayor Gloria’s FY27 budget proposes to completely eliminate the City’s multimodal road safety team, the engineers who design bike lanes, crosswalks, and traffic signal improvements across the city.
No multimodal team, no progress!
Tell the Mayor to keep funding safe streets. Link in bio.

Join us and for a Slow Jam demonstration this Sunday, April 12 at 11am. We’ll be listening to music, joining in chants, and using our signs to encourage slower, safer driving in a neighborhood that has been heavily impacted by recent deadly crashes.

Big win for safer streets in Encinitas!
Santa Fe Drive’s new separated, protected cycle tracks bring best-in-class, Dutch-style design to San Diego County. The impressive project includes bioswales for flood management, vegetation for beautification and traffic calming, and a Rapid Flashing Beacons crosswalk, creating a greener, safer corridor that makes biking feel comfortable for everyone.
Huge congratulations to the City of Encinitas and the previous City Council for leading the way, and thank you to Senator Catherine Blakespear for securing $3M in 2023 to fix this dangerous corridor.
We love keeping kids safe; this is a monumental upgrade for San Dieguito Academy, and we’re pushing for projects like this next to schools throughout the county. This is what people-first streets look like. Let’s keep going 💚
p.s. stay tuned for an update later week. This isn’t the full story.
