SDHC had the amazing opportunity to join Community Housing Works and partners to celebrate the grand opening of Jacaranda on 9th — a beautiful new affordable housing community in Downtown San Diego.

Located in Cortez Hill, Jacaranda on 9th offers 87 affordable homes for individuals and families with low income in the City of San Diego, including supportive services through People Assisting the Homeless - PATH for residents transitioning out of homelessness.

The community also features amenities designed to foster stability, connection and long-term well-being. SDHC awarded HOME funds and Project-Based Housing Vouchers to help make the development possible.

As we celebrate Affordable Housing Month, Jacaranda on 9th is a reminder of the powerful impact affordable housing can have in our communities. Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this vision to life!

SDHC thanks the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce for organizing this trip to discuss San Diego priorities—including housing—with federal lawmakers. We engaged in important conversations about housing affordability, federal rental assistance and homelessness and how sufficient federal resources are essential to assisting families in our community.

Congratulations to San Diego Magazine's “50 People to Watch in San Diego, 2026,” including SDHC President and CEO Lisa Jones. In her more than 20 years of service in the areas of affordable housing and homelessness, she has developed and implemented housing assistance approaches that focus on the unique needs of the people being served. She has adhered to the additional values of building relationships, collaborating with community organizations, and promoting transparency in government. Under her leadership—in an ever-changing environment with limited resources and growing need—SDHC remains committed to its vision for everyone in the City of San Diego to have a home they can afford. We look forward to seeing the impact the “50 People to Watch” recognized in this feature will have in San Diego.
