We are celebrating the construction underway now to create 44 new affordable rental homes in the San Carlos neighborhood for families with lower incomes.

Eight of these housing units will be set aside specifically for households with intellectual and developmental disabilities, supported by rental housing vouchers SDHC awarded to help them pay their housing costs.

We also awarded a development loan to make Navajo Family Apartments possible. This development is a collaboration among the developer, Community Housing Works, the City of San Diego, County of San Diego - Government, SDHC and additional partners.

We were pleased to join the developer, Trestle Build, and additional partners to celebrate the grand opening of The Bel, an affordable rental housing development in San Diego’s Hillcrest neighborhood. The Bel provides 79 apartments with rents that will remain affordable for 55 years for households with very low income. SDHC is one of the financing partners that worked to make The Bel a reality.

SDHC congratulates our President and CEO, Lisa Jones; the Harrington Heights, Jacaranda on Ninth, and Serenade on 43rd affordable housing developments; and all the nominees and winners of this year’s Ruby Awards from the San Diego Housing Federation. CEO Jones was recognized for her career of person-centered public service, and the Harrington Heights, Jacaranda and Serenade developments produced more than 400 affordable rental homes.

Additional Ruby Awards honorees included several individuals who have a positive impact on affordable housing and its residents, including Simonne Ruff, Director of the San Diego/Orange County program for CSH, who earned the Housing Champion award.
