Shortly after 10am this morning, Officers with the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Police Department were contacted by a member of the CPN Indian Child Welfare staff informing us that they had a flat tire and would like our assistance.

Due to the vehicle being stopped on the shoulder of the on-ramp to Interstate 40, Officer Stoll swiftly responded to assist. Officer Stoll was able to quickly get the tire changed and get the motorist on their way!

You may recognize Officer Stoll from our recent post regarding him being top of his class while attending a Police Bicycle Certification course.

Officer Stoll continues to show unwavering dedication to serving our community!

We're proud to be part of the OSSAA Fast Pitch State Tournament happening now at FireLake Ball Fields! Good luck to all the teams playing today 🥎

At last week’s OSSAA State fastpitch softball tournament for classes 2A-B held at the FireLake Ball Fields, everything ran smoothly. Spectators may not have noticed a heavy police presence, and according to CPN Police Department Chief Kyle Webb, that means officers did their job well.

"The best police officer is like a good umpire," Webb said. "When they do their job, nobody really knows. That's the best way I can kind of explain it. When things are going right, that's a good thing."

Starting today, FireLake hosts the large school OSSAA State Fastpitch Softball Tournament for Classes 6A-3A. Chief Webb noted that while operations will remain consistent, visitors will see bicycle officers active on the grounds.

"Because like this weekend, we've got state... where I'm going to have our bike patrol out there," Webb said. "Any time they'll have softball tournaments and stuff like that, we'll have a bike patrol out there."

He added that softball crowds are generally a pleasure to work with, noting that security issues at these games are usually minor and easy to resolve.

"Softball tournaments — and I coached softball for a long time—it's usually not that bad," Chief Webb said. "It's usually good people like that... It's usually simple stuff, like an argument over a call or something like that, where we just like to have a presence."

The CPN Police Department manages security for several major gatherings throughout the year, including Family Reunion Festival, FireLake Fireflight Balloon Fest, and large-scale entertainment at the Grand Casino Hotel & Resort. Webb noted that two additional officers will soon complete bicycle patrol training to further expand coverage for future events.

Looking ahead, the department is preparing for even larger national draws — including hosting the OKC Spark professional fastpitch team.

"With the OKC Spark and everybody like that coming in, that's even a bigger deal because you got ESPN," Webb explained. "So, we'll always have an officer posted, probably especially when the squad's playing, just because it's a professional team. We'll have a lot of officers on it."

Webb noted that for higher-profile events, security protocols will reflect the larger stage. While he advocates for measures like a clear bag policy — like standard policies at major venue entry points — implementation for high school events remains up to sanctioning organizations. Regardless, CPN PD remains dedicated to maintaining a safe, family-friendly environment for every player and fan stepping onto the complex.

Last night, just after 7:40pm, Officer Ramsey and Officer Cox were assisting the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 40 at Mile Marker 175

This appears to be a good time to talk about Oklahoma’s “Bernardo-Mills” Law.

Recently CPNPD Officer Kevin Stoll attended an International Police Mountain Biking Association (IPMBA) course in Amarillo, Texas. This week-long course is designed to equip patrol officers with the knowledge and techniques utilized on bicycles for patrol functions and events.

During this course, Officer Stoll demonstrated proficiency and eventually earned himself a spot as the top participant!

As we look to have a busy event year in 2027, we look forward to utilizing Officer Stoll and his experience for a more rapid response to keep our community safe!

Please join us in congratulating Officer Stoll on his achievement.

CPNPD Officer Kevin Stoll recently participated in a police cyclist course. The experience helped officer Stoll become a certified police cyclist, allowing him the opportunity to establish a bicycle response team with the CPNPD.
