This not so hidden, historical gem at Moulton Park is called “Riverside”. Built in 1822 by Samuel Lackland, the house sits high on the hill overlooking the Shenandoah River. While it’s not currently open to the public, we thought we’d share some notable historic features. The original house was a small cabin. The Moulton Family preserved the cabin by building around it, but left a single wall of the original cabin exposed so the history of the structure wasn’t completely hidden. The amazing stairwell features an incised stair bracket in a wave-like pattern that is nearly identical to several other historic Jefferson County homes. ❤️

Things are taking shape at Mount Mission Park! Our new playground is starting to come together, and we’re excited to see it all coming to life. 🚧 🦺

We know it’s exciting to see the progress, but please stay off the playground equipment while construction is underway. The area is still an active work zone, and we want to make sure everything is safely installed and ready for everyone to enjoy.

We’ll keep sharing updates as things progress! 👀
