We're excited to welcome new Canopy Crew, summer interns, and Engagement Specialist! This week they've been watering, mulching, and learning about how we show up as an organization. On Wednesdays, we will be highlighting how they're making a difference in the field, in our office, and throughout our programs. Stay tuned!

Volunteer opportunity at City Tree Farm! As temperatures rise into the 80's next week, we’re looking for help caring for more than 1,000 young trees that will one day be planted in neighborhoods, schools, parks, and community spaces across St. Louis. This is a beginner-friendly, hands-on opportunity to support young trees during a critical growing season. Located in Midtown near the Scott Joplin House, the work is simple, peaceful, and meaningful, and directly supports future community projects.

Head to moreleaf.org/volunteer and check out the schedule link to get involved. Help is need throughout the summer- so stay tuned for more opportunities!

We’ve been selected as an American Water Charitable Foundation 2026 Water and Environment grantee, supporting growing native trees and offering them free of charge to community planting partners. CommuniTree re-opens July 1 for fall orders.

Your donations in action! Thanks to support from the and our community we've launched our summer stewardship watering program at O'Fallon Park. Today we watered over 180 trees in just under three hours using a combination of pumps, hydrants, buckets, and wagons. Imagine how much we can accomplish once the new 100-foot hose arrives!

Young tree care and stewardship is a critical part of making sure the trees we plant in our community thrive. The trees in your life could probably use a drink too- a good rule of thumb is to give a young trees 5-10 gallons per inch of trunk.

Want to get involved with watering at the park? We'll be hosting workdays throughout the summer on Friday mornings. Email [email protected] for more information.

April showers bring May flowers! While our team has been out watering at our nursery (and beyond) we've been taking the time to appreciate some of our late spring blooming trees.

Northern Catalpa is blooming along St Louis City streets, Japanese tree lilacs pyramidal panicles of flowers add a touch of elegance to parking lots, all while pollinators flock to ninebark and nannyberry viburnum. It looks like multiple species of serviceberries are ripening across the landscape! If the birds don't beat you to the fruit, consider collecting and refrigerating the berries of the native downy serviceberry for either a tasty snack or a generous donation to our state nursery.
