Construction of Fire Station 5 continues to move toward completion. Installation of the apparatus bay is complete, and spray foam insulation is scheduled to be installed during the first week of June. Electrical work in the apparatus bay is approximately 50% complete, and garage door installation is underway.

Inside the station, the bathroom upfit is complete, and all remaining house upfits have been finished with the exception of the kitchen countertops. Painting is expected to wrap up this week, and bedroom furniture has been assembled and placed in the rooms. Cleaning of the facility has also begun, and the Station Alert system is currently being installed.

Outside the building, gutters have been connected and preparations are underway for the installation of river rock once conditions allow. The brush pile has been removed by the Sanitation Division. Appliances are expected to be delivered within the next two weeks as the project moves closer to completion.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for Fire Station 5 has been scheduled for June 30, 2026, at 10 a.m. The public is invited to attend and tour the new facility.

Proper installation and regular maintenance are essential to ensure your smoke alarms work when you need them most. Simply having an alarm in your home isnโ€™t enough - it must be correctly placed, tested routinely, and replaced when necessary.

Follow the guidelines below to help make sure your smoke alarms are ready to provide early warning in the event of a fire:

1๏ธโƒฃ Install at least one alarm on each level of your home. It is recommended to have one in each sleeping area and outside of sleeping areas.

2๏ธโƒฃ Test all smoke alarms, battery powered and hard-wired, once a month. Vacuum or dust around the alarms regularly to keep them clean.

3๏ธโƒฃ Change batteries once a year unless you have a 10-year battery operated alarm. Make sure you change the backup batteries in your hard-wired alarms once a year as well.

4๏ธโƒฃ Replace all smoke alarms when they expire after 10 years.

As Statesville has grown, so has the fire department - adapting to meet the needs of a changing community.

From the opening of Fire Station 4 in 2013 to the addition of full aerial staffing in 2019, each step forward has strengthened the departmentโ€™s ability to serve. In 2024, a new Fire Station 1 opened its doors, marking a new chapter with modern facilities and expanded capabilities.

But service doesnโ€™t stop at city limits. In 2025, Statesville firefighters answered the call across North Carolina - assisting with hurricane rescue efforts and battling wildfires when communities needed help most.

And the future is already taking shape, with plans underway for a fifth fire station to continue expanding service and protection.

This is the story of a department always moving forward - growing, responding, and preparing for whatโ€™s next.

Grilling season is here - but with dry conditions in Statesville, itโ€™s more important than ever to grill safely.

With the current Extreme Drought (D3) conditions, even a small spark can lead to a larger fire.

Keep your cookouts safe by following these simple tips:
๐Ÿ”น Place grills at least 10 feet from homes and structures
๐Ÿ”น Never grill in a garage or under a covered porch
๐Ÿ”น Keep children and pets at least 3 feet away
๐Ÿ”น Never leave a grill unattended
๐Ÿ”น Check propane connections before use

After grilling, allow coals to cool completely before disposing.

Enjoy the season - just keep fire safety top of mind.
