As we continue celebrating National Public Works Week, here’s a quote from OCWA engineer Debbie on why public works matters to her:

"I enjoy working in public works because I get to see projects evolve from the initial concept all the way through to completion, and there's a sense of pride in watching something tangible come to life. It also gives me a sense of purpose to assist with projects that will benefit so many people now and in the future (whether they realize it or not).

Just as rewarding are the relationships built along the way. I've met so many dedicated people and those connections are what make the work especially joyful."

Working 24/7, they treat and test water, repair and upgrade systems, and ensure reliable service for homes, schools, businesses, and the community.

We also want to shine a light on the equally important people working behind the scenes—our meter readers, customer service representatives, billing and accounting teams, administrative staff, and support personnel—who make sure our community stays informed, supported and connected.
