A little spring fun is waiting in the kids’ room 🌷

Stop by the Truckee Library for the Spring Baby Animals Scavenger Hunt. Kids can search the room for all 8 baby animal photos, check them off as they go, and collect a prize when they’re done.

It’s a sweet, simple way to explore the library, spend some time with books, and keep little ones busy on a spring day.

More than 40 local nonprofits and agencies support the new Truckee Regional Library.

Why? Because this project is about more than books. It’s about creating flexible, accessible community space for the people and organizations who serve Truckee every day.

Here’s what Tahoe Ability Program shared:

“When it snows three feet, and we can do nothing but be indoors, we need a community space to meet and do meaningful, productive activities. A place to meet for our wonderful book club and to grow the minds of the people we serve.”

More than 40 local nonprofits and agencies have formally endorsed the new Truckee Regional Library.

Why? Because they see what this space can make possible.

Through conversations with local organizations and partners, one need has come up again and again: Truckee needs more flexible, accessible public space.

More room for programs.
More access to resources.
More places to gather, learn, connect, and serve the community.

This project is bigger than a building. It’s a shared investment in Truckee’s future.

Biking to the library is going to get much easier!

The future Truckee Library is planned for Truckee River Regional Park, directly along the Legacy Trail, making it safer and easier for students and families to reach by foot or bike.

It’s more than a new building.

It’s a better-connected library in a location designed around access, independence, and community.

That means one library card can help you access:

☀️ Over 200 participating California State Park units
☀️ A low-cost way to explore more of California

Before your next park day, stop by the Truckee Library and ask about checking out a California State Library Parks Pass.

Teens need library space too.

As students move from learning to read to reading, researching, applying, studying, creating, and planning for what’s next, the library continues to play a big role.

For tweens and teens, that can mean a quiet place to do homework, meet with a tutor, work on a scholarship application, use reliable internet, or simply have a safe place to land after school.

And for the 36% of TTUSD students considered underserved, access to free, connected, welcoming public space matters even more.

Truckee’s future library is an opportunity to better serve kids of all ages, from early readers to high school students preparing for college, careers, and life beyond graduation. Because literacy doesn’t stop in childhood. And neither should access.

Libraries are more than books!

Did you know the library offers a Recreation Collection with gear and tools to help you get outside and explore?

From hiking poles and GPS devices to gold panning kits and more, the library helps connect our community to adventure, learning, and new experiences.

A recent Library Journal article highlighted how libraries across the country are helping communities stay connected through Wi-Fi, hotspot lending, tech help, and access to essential online services.

Libraries today do far more than people realize. That’s true in Truckee too, where the library continues to serve as a trusted community resource for learning, connection, and opportunity.

As our community grows, investing in library spaces and services helps ensure that impact continues for years to come.
