Students at Los Padillas Bilingual Environmental STEM Magnet & Community School are proving that environmental stewardship starts with student leadership. ๐ฑ
Recently, the schoolโs Wildlife Sanctuary Leaders were formally recognized by the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners for their advocacy, leadership, and care for their school-based wildlife sanctuary. Through hands-on, place-based learning and strong community partnerships, these students are making a real impact in their South Valley community while building skills in civic engagement, collaboration, and environmental responsibility.

Students at New Century Technology High School recently showcased their creativity, curiosity, and research skills during the schoolโs annual STREAM Showcase & Research Symposium.
The event featured an impressive range of student-led projects exploring topics such as The Emergence of Class Consciousness During Industrialization in Mamerica, Axolotls in Space, Stone Baby Syndrome, and Novel Isolation of L. Okinawensis in the United States: An Assessment of Microbial and Antimicrobial Differences Between a Public and Private Greenspace.
Projects were organized by academic and field categories and evaluated on depth of knowledge, conceptual understanding, real-world relevance, research quality, and methodology. Students presented their work through empirical studies, TED Talk-style presentations, literature reviews, and design/model projects โ demonstrating both rigorous academic inquiry and innovative thinking.
