💜 ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY 💜— Thank you, Dinese and Linda!

Today, we’re celebrating Dinese Chavez and Linda Wilson as they mark their first anniversaries with Mountain Projects!

Both serve as In-Home Aides with the Haywood County Senior Resource Center’s Senior Services Department, helping older adults with everyday household tasks that can become more difficult with age.

In-Home Aides also provide companionship, conversation and encouragement, offering valuable social connection to clients who may spend much of their time alone at home. These services help older adults maintain their independence and continue living in their own homes for as long as possible.

Caring employees like Dinese and Linda make that possible by helping clients feel supported, valued and connected to their community.

Thank you, Dinese and Linda, for your first year with Mountain Projects and for the care you bring to the people you serve. We’re grateful to have you on the team!

Note: Due to early voting, we do not have access to the Banquet Room until Nov 3rd.

*Exploring Art 11/2, 11/9, 11/16 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Led by Suzanne LeClaire. Cost $5 per class or 3 classes for $10.
Lunch & Learn with Dignity Memorial/Garrett Funeral Home 11/4 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Informational Presentation. Bring your questions about funeral preparation options. Led by Tony Silver. Lunch is provided. No Cost.
*TRIP: Early Christmas Shopping at Hobby Lobby and other stores at the South Ridge Shopping Center. 11/5. Leave at 9:45 a.m. Cost $6 includes transportation. Bring $$ for lunch.
*Qigong (Like Tai Chi) 11/6 & 11/20 from 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Cost $5 for each class. Led by Tana Rains.
Solo Journey 11/9 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Beginning in November we will list this event under Support Groups that meet each month. Solo Journey- 2nd Monday each month from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Social Support Group for singles, widows and divorcees Age 55 Plus. Special Speakers and activities. Coordinated by Barbara Miller. No Cost.
Fall Craft Fair 11/10 from 2-4 p.m. Open to members of the SRC who will be selling their personal handcrafted items to include decor, jewelry, handmade sewn goods, cards, beaded pens, pet clothing, and much more. Stop by and shop if you want to purchase any of the handmade items in time for the upcoming holidays. Cash preferred. Some vendors may offer other payment methods. You will need to check with the vendor to see what they will accept.
*Creative Healing Workshop 11/16 from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. An expressive arts workshop which includes planning, design and facilitation of guided creative practices, reflective exercises and thoughtfully curated materials that support emotional well- being, stress reduction, and meaningful connection. You won't want to miss this special event. No Cost. Led by Marga Fripp from Folkmoot.
WNC Repair Cafe 11/17 from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Bring broken household objects like small appliances, torn clothing, items to be sharpened, lawn mower repair, almost anything. Qualified volunteers will help guide you through the repair process. No Cost.
*Thanksgiving Dinner 11/19 starting at 11:30 a.m. There will only be one sitting this year! SRC staff will serve the SRC members in the banquet room. Cost $8.
BINGO 11/24 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. No Cost.
Shred Event 11/30 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Maximum 3 bags or boxes. Please do not include paper clips or batteries. No Cost.

We have weekly card games. If want to join and are a new player, please call the front desk so we can connect you with the game leader.

HELENE VS ISAIAS

With Isaias expected to be the first tropical system to impact the western Carolinas since Helene, we want to address concerns and put the forecast into perspective.

Isaias is NOT expected to be another Helene. While locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible, the current forecast is far less severe than the historic impacts experienced during Helene.

We recognize that many communities are still recovering from Helene, and we understand the concerns another tropical system may bring. Our office stands with you, and we remain committed to providing timely, accurate forecasts to help keep you informed and safe.

This graphic highlights the key differences between the two storms. Remember, this is the current forecast, and conditions may change as the system approaches.

24 members from the Haywood County Senior Resource Center enjoyed a beautiful day at Dollywood during Harvest Festival. Lots of cool decorations, shows and rides! Oh... and food too!!!

We are thankful to be a place for seniors to socialize, learn something new, make new friends, and to get resources and services for themselves and their families.

12 seniors from the Haywood County Senior Resource Center had a great visit at the Titanic museum in Pigeon Forge viewing artifacts and displays about the Titanic and stories of the people, children and dogs onboard. We had a nice meal afterwards at the Apple Barn farmhouse restaurant.
