Big Boy No. 4014 is here in West Chicago! With the influx of visitors to see this wonderful locomotive from Union Pacific, we are celebrating at the library with some exciting exhibits and displays! Check out the 3-d model of the Pioneer Train from WeGo Full Steam Ahead, or view a lego model of West Chicago's historical train depot! We also have a bell from the Chicago Northwestern train line, an exhibit of Phil Weibler's train photography, and a display on train history from the West Chicago City Museum!

Be aware: we are expecting that traffic and parking at the library will be a challenge today, so we ask for your patience! The library is open for regular service, and as always, our drive-up material return and the book drop at the front entrance will be available all day. We ask patrons to be mindful of keeping fire lanes clear, and not parking in the circular drive to ensure the library remains accessible.

For more information on transportation and the Big Boy event, visit the web page from the city using the URL below. See you at the library (and over by Big Boy)!

Next week on Wednesday, June 3rd 2026, Union Pacific's Big Boy No. 4014 will be displayed! The only working version of its kind, Big Boy is making its way across the US for our nation's 250th anniversary.

During this time, we are expecting a large influx of visitors to view and celebrate the locomotive, and the library's parking lot has been designated as a space for people to park for this event. In light of this, there will likely be great difficulty parking in the library's lot, and there will likely be additional traffic.

The library will remain open for regular service, and as always, our drive-up book return and the material drop at our front entrance will be accessible. We ask patrons to be mindful of keeping fire lanes clear, and not parking in the circular drive for ANY amount of time to ensure accessibility to the building for those who need it.

For more information on parking, transportation, and the Big Boy event, check out the city's website using the URL below. Thank you for understanding, and we'll see you at the library!
