The Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers recently demonstrated their commitment to developing future agricultural leaders by sponsoring 18 student memberships in the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association (MSGA) for members of the Worthington FFA Chapter. In addition to covering the memberships, the board matched the contribution with a donation back to the chapter to support student activities and educational opportunities.

The donation was featured in the Minnesota Soybean Growers Association publication https://mnsoybean.org/nobles-county-corn-soybean-growers-support-local-ffa-chapter/

The sponsorship connects students with Minnesota soybean farmers and provides them with greater exposure to the agricultural industry, leadership development opportunities and advocacy efforts that support Minnesota agriculture.

“Agriculture needs passionate young leaders, and FFA helps students discover the many opportunities available within our industry,” said Dusty Neugebauer, director of the Nobles County Corn and Soybean Growers board and a MSGA board member. “We’re proud to support Worthington FFA and invest in students who will carry agriculture forward.”

FFA is a youth organization focused on agriculture, leadership and personal development through school-based agricultural programs. The organization helps students develop career and leadership skills while exploring a wide variety of interests and career paths. FFA members pursue futures as farmers, agronomists, veterinarians, teachers, researchers, bankers and professionals in countless other fields.

“The Worthington FFA Chapter is happy to continually receive such ardent support from the Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers. Their generous donations and the sponsored student memberships demonstrate their commitment and investment into the next generation of agricultural leaders,” said Matt Tripp, Worthington FFA Advisor. “The sponsored memberships are a great way to encourage and involve today’s youth in professional organizations to help them further develop leadership skills as well as knowledge of current agricultural issues.”

In addition to leadership development opportunities, FFA offers student access to scholarships, grants and hands-on experiences that help prepare them for future careers and continued education.

The Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers Board remains committed to supporting agricultural education and encouraging young people to explore careers in agriculture while developing the skills needed to become future leaders in their communities.

“We are appreciative of their contributions to our chapter and look forward to continuing such an important friendship between the Worthington FFA Chapter and the Nobles County Corn and Soybean Growers,” said Tripp.

MSGA is a nonpartisan organization that advocates on behalf of its members and Minnesota’s nearly 26,000 soybean farmers. Established in 1962, MSGA fights for farmers in St. Paul and Washington, D.C., on policies including biofuels, tax relief, protecting crop inputs, supporting beginning farmers, rural mental health, research, building international markets and more.

The FFA motto is: Learning to Do - Doing to Learn - Earning to Live - Living to Serve. Thank you to our Nobles County Corn & Soybean Growers for showing our students that this mission doesn't end with high school graduation and leading by example. Thank you once again for the support of our Worthington WHS FFA program and members! County Corn & Soybean Growers

Where does Minnesota’s Permanent School Fund money actually come from?
🌲 Timber sales
⛏️ Mining and mineral royalties
🏞️ School trust land leases and other revenue
📈 Investment growth
Not from taxes.
Minnesota’s Permanent School Fund has existed since statehood in 1858, when public lands were set aside to support public education. For generations, those school trust lands have generated revenue through timber sales, mining and mineral royalties, leases, and other natural resource activity.
That revenue flows into the Permanent School Fund, where it is invested by the Minnesota State Board of Investment. Together with investment growth, the fund has grown from about $675 million in 2010 to more than $2.3 billion today.
This November’s constitutional amendment does not create a new education fund or raise property, income, or sales taxes. It asks Minnesotans whether to modernize how annual distributions from this existing education trust are calculated—providing more support for students today while preserving the fund for future generations.
