The Minister and Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, together with the Acting Director-General and responsible Deputy Directors-General, are currently participating in the Inaugural Meeting of the South African Post Office (SAPO) Board.

The session marks an important milestone in equipping the newly appointed Board with a comprehensive understanding of its governance responsibilities, fiduciary obligations, and the legal and regulatory framework that guides the operations of SAPO.

Through this engagement, Board members are being oriented on their mandate, accountability mechanisms, governance reporting requirements, and the critical role they play in ensuring that SAPO delivers on its public service mandate while advancing institutional stability and long-term sustainability.

The Department remains committed to supporting strong governance and leadership that will contribute to the revitalisation and future success of the South African Post Office.

Today, Deputy Minister Mondli Gungubele and Premier Panyaza Lesufi concluded a successful oversight visit to Khutsong Township, engaging residents, assessing BDM progress, and supporting an awareness and registration drive at the Khutsong Multi-Purpose Centre.

Qualifying households were registered. Questions were answered. Connections were made, between government and the communities it serves.

The journey from analogue to digital continues, one household, one ward, one community at a time.

Missed today’s drive? Reach out to your local Post Office South Africa to find out how to register for the BDM programme.
