A working smoke alarm is your best early warning sign of a fire, giving you and your loved ones the chance to get out, stay out, and call Triple Zero (000).

🚨🔥 Smoke Alarm Action Day

With winter just around the corner, now is the perfect time to check your smoke alarms at home.

As the weather cools down, we start using heaters, electric blankets, fireplaces, cooking appliances and charging more electronic devices, all things that can increase the risk of house fires.

Working smoke alarms save lives by giving you and your family early warning and valuable time to escape safely.

✅ Test every smoke alarm in your home
✅ Replace batteries if needed
✅ Replace smoke alarms older than 10 years
✅ Make sure alarms are correctly installed
✅ Have a home fire escape plan and practise it

It only takes a minute to test your smoke alarm… but it could save a life.

Don’t become complacent when it comes to fire safety this winter.
