Volunteers commited to their community. Call 132 500 for emergency storm or flood assistance. One major support role is in assisting the SA Police with searches.

The SES is a versatile and highly active volunteer emergency service organisation. While the primary role of the SES is to respond to incidents involving floods and storms, it also provides crucial support and assistance to other emergency service organisations. The SES also works very closely with the Bureau of Meteorology, especially during periods of extreme weather and when issuing weather- related public safety advice. In a typical year in South Australia, floods and storms account for well in excess of 50% of the overall economic costs of all natural hazards (including bushfire). Therefore, being prepared for floods and storms should be a high priority for all South Australians.

🔥🚒🧯 Wednesday night training saw Campbelltown SES collaborate with Athelstone CFS for a grass fire exercise, to achieve our annual burnover skills maintenance drill. SES crews were providing a logistics and welfare supply area, when the simulated fire changed direction. CFS responded to protect the logistics area and SES.

A big thank you to Athelstone CFS for their organisation and for hosting our crews for a post training barbecue at their station 🌭

With heavy rainfall and thunderstorms forecast across the state today, take a little extra care if you're heading out.

✔️Take it a bit slower on the roads
✔️Steer clear of floodwater, especially at creek crossings (where roads cross creeks or waterways).
✔️Allow extra time to get where you’re going

It’s the little things that make a difference when the weather turns.
If you need help, you can call SES on 132 500 for emergency flood and storm assistance.

It's been a busy couple of weeks at Campbelltown, 35 RFA's for October already 🚨Here's what we've been up to!

🌳🪵🌧️🌬️Two weekends ago, crews responded to 17 calls for assistance, mostly tree-down events. Ranging from trees on the bus interchange and roads to a pergola on a second-story roof!
🪢🏡 Members practised roof safety systems and vertical rescue
🐂🐎 Three members undertook a course in Large Animal Rescue
🛸Received a presentation with some demonstrations of our micro-drone at work

Thank you to Rotary Club of Morialta for your support and for thinking of Campbelltown SES when offering a place in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. We were honoured to have Paris selected to participate in such a fantastic opportunity.

Paris, we are incredibly proud of you for representing our unit and embracing this experience. We hope you had a fantastic week, made some great connections, and gained valuable skills and insights that you can bring back to the unit, our community, and your own personal life. Well done on this achievement 🧡

We were also honoured to have our Unit Manager, Deputy Unit Manager, and one of Paris' fellow crew members attend the graduation dinner to celebrate the achievements of all the RYLA participants and share in this special occasion

We love a collab! Today, volunteers from Campbelltown State Emergency Service and Salisbury State Emergency Service Units visited the ARA - Australian Refugee Association to speak with their English class about the role of the SES and how we help communities during emergencies.

We discussed some of the key hazards South Australians may face, including storms, floods and heatwaves, and shared simple ways people can prepare themselves and their families to stay safe.

A big thank you to the Australian Refugee Association for having us. It was a pleasure to meet everyone and support community resilience through preparedness and education. 💙🧡

🧡 Giving back beyond our own community 🧡

Today, members of the Campbelltown and SA SES - Dog Operations Units had the opportunity to support Gawler Light Rotary with a really worthwhile community project.

We helped Rotary harvest a council playground, carefully dismantling and removing the equipment so it can be shipped overseas and given a second life in communities where it will be enjoyed by children for years to come. 🌏🛝

Recently, 12 playgrounds were sent to Timor-Leste, and we’re proud to play a small part in helping give more playgrounds a second life.

We spent the day dismantling the equipment, loading it up and transporting it to Rotary’s storage facility at Edinburgh. Once Council removes the remaining concrete, we’ll head back to collect the poles.

A great day, a great project and a great reminder that giving back can reach well beyond our own community. 🧡

Just before 1pm today, crews from Campbelltown SES, Athelstone CFS and National Parks and Wildlife Service South Australia assisted SA Ambulance Service with patient extraction from a conservation park within our response area. Many thanks to all crews and we wish those involved the best.
