Alliance Française Sydney The Alliance Française de Sydney is an independent, not-for-profit, language and cultural organisation promoting Franco-Australian exchange since 1895.

The Alliance Française de Sydney was established in 1899, with the ambitious mission to spread the French Language and Culture beyond the borders of France. Our teaching staff is made up of qualified and experienced native French tutors, and the courses that we offer cover the four core areas of language development Speaking | Reading | Writing | Listening

Our classes cater for all levels of French, ranging from complete beginner courses to advanced courses, following the common European Framework of Reference for Languages. We are also an accredited educational institution, offering internationally recognised teaching diplomas and qualifications, issued by the French Ministry of Education. Adult Courses
We offer a wide range of adult courses, designed to suit each individuals’ needs and availabilities. Or if you are looking for something more specific, we also offer tailored and specialised courses. Our general courses are for the everyday-learner looking to improve their French. These courses have three learning modes:

La Nuit de l’Advertising was a blast!

From hilarious ads to emotional moments, last night at the Hayden Orpheum Picture Palace had it all. The room was laughing, gasping and maybe even shedding a tear or two 🥹
Add an incredible line-up featuring ˈd͡ʒʉːliet ✈️, Porcelain Alice , DJ Lou P Scarlett and Mr.Gørski, plus plenty of Chupa Chups and Mentos, and you’ve got one unforgettable night! 🍬✨

Did you know that 257 Clarence Street, home of the Alliance Française de Sydney, was designed by Harry Seidler, one of the pioneers of Australian modernism?

In fact, it was one of Seidler’s last commercial projects.

We invite our community to visit Chau Chak Wing Museum and discover Harry Seidler: Migrating Modernism a brilliant retrospective exploring the legacy and vision of one of Australia’s most influential architects.

The exhibition follows its presentation at SMAC in Venice in 2025, bringing Seidler’s work and legacy back into an international cultural conversation.
