A new bill has been launched that will further restrict Australian's freedoms for everyday citizens along with gun owners with severe criminal penalties for unapproved speech. These laws are along the line of the draconian UK laws that have resulted in 12,000 arrest annually for "offensive" social media posts between 2023 and 2025. Public consultation is only 48hours and close today at 4pm. Have your voice heard before its to late.

We need change.

Thank you to the Townsville Bulletin for shining a light on the shocking home invasion in Mundingburra last week I witnessed first hand.

Our homes should be our safe place — not a battleground. Hearing stories like this is gut wrenching, but they need to be told.

The more these horrors are shared, the harder it becomes for decision makers to look the other way. Our community is crying out for action. We’re scared, we’re angry, and we’ve had enough. 💔🛑

I’ll add in the article the Member for Mundingburra is quite pleased that in one case the sentencing for stealing a car was increased from 6 months to 18 months since the new laws.

However, this is still a far cry from the communities expectations of “adult time” (14years max) and how it is being implemented is still not really a deterrent.

We need change.
