"Durham County" (2007-2010) is an outstanding Canadian crime series that has won a very favourable reception in Canada – not only the emphatic thumbs up from every critical voice, but the characterization of the program as “dark,” “disturbing,” “challenging,” and “addictive,” and by sweeping assertions such as “maybe the best drama series Canada has ever produced,” and “an attempt to make an adult, disturbing drama as good as those made for HBO.” It is presently streaming free on CBC Gem, and I strongly recommend that you watch it. A few years after its initial broadcast I wrote a book that provided a blow-by-blow description and analysis of all three of its seasons, entitled “Durham County in Closeup”, which I am now making available as a Kindle e-book on Amazon. It can be yours for the princely sum of CAN$1.50, and for similar sums throughout the inhabited world. If you decide to read it, please be advised that some of the introductory materials describing the television series context are now a bit dated.
