Local activists (including labour activists) are hosting a candlelight vigil for Alex Pretti, the details are below:

Who: everyone, anyone

What: Candle-lighting, short vigil.
Details: No protest, no recruiting, nothing complicated, just a quiet show of solidarity with the victims of ICE. We'd like as many people as possible, so we're trying to restrict it as little as we can!

Where: In front of the American Embassy (490 Sussex Dr, Ottawa).
Details: It's close to the Byward Market, so parking is somewhat available! It's also O-trainable, if you hop off at the Rideau station!

When: January 28 at 6:30 PM (18h30).

Minnesota unions and allies are calling for a general strike on January 23rd!

The news says that Trump wants to buy Greenland, maybe by paying each person there $10,000 to $100,000.

If he ups the price and pays one million dollars to every single person in Greenland between now and 2029, that would be about $57,792,000,000.

And that in turn would only be about 77% of the money allocated to ICE during the same period.
