When I had the honour of speaking at HKECC's Lilium Ball last Saturday, I thanked for the friendship and mutual respect between Hong Kong Canadian and Japanese communities. I also extended my heartfelt sense of appreciation for Hongkongers' affinity toward Japan. The feeling is mutual between the two communities and strong in GTA and across Canada. - CG Matsunaga

Had the honour of joining HKECC's Lilium Ball Chapter II Adagio. In GTA, including in Markham, Richmond Hill, North York and many more, Hong Kong and Japanese bakers, cafes, restaurants, boutiques and so on thrive alongside, creating integrated community experiences and contributing to Ontario’s prosperity. Thank you for having me at this auspicious celebration of Hong Kong Canadian community.

Had the great pleasure of welcoming Hamilton City Councillor Tammy Hwang and her team as well as representatives of Invest in Hamilton. We discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interests, in particular future investment opportunities and potentials for enhancing business engagements between Hamilton and Japan, with the former's fabulous industrial and technological ecosystems in mind!

On May 26, we participated in the Asian Heritage Month Celebration at Milliken Mills High School in Markham. The event featured lively performances representing a variety of Asian cultural backgrounds. Representing Japanese culture was the colourful and energetic Kochi Yosakoi Ambassador KIZUNA International Team.

In the central atrium, we were delighted to welcome guests to our booth, where they had the opportunity to participate in hands-on Japanese cultural activities, including water shodō (calligraphy), origami, and kendama.

Thank you to the YRDSB for this year’s Asian Heritage Month Celebration. We look forward to participating again next year!

A time when the Sakura have blossomed, the fresh greenery grows lush, and we move gradually toward summer.

A presentation mindful of the seasonal scenery around Toronto, to be enjoyed just as much with your eyes.
