By 2030, nearly one million people in Canada are projected to be living with dementia, according to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.🧠

As dementia becomes an increasingly important public health concern, it is vital that we learn to recognize the signs, build awareness and create a network of support. This can help us better equip families to take active steps for their own brain health as well as support others in their journey.

MFRC is partnering with the Alzheimer Society of Toronto for two informative workshops exploring dementia, identifying risk factors and everyday actions that can support brain health.

We encourage seniors, families, caregivers and community members to join us. 💚

A shared meal. A stronger community. 💚

Have you ever had a meal that made you feel at home? Perhaps it was a cultural recipe or a familiar flavour that brought back fond memories.

Food holds those connections for us and we realize just how powerful it can be. At MFRC, we make room for these moments every day. With each meal shared, friendships grow and the community begins to feel more like family.

This Thanksgiving, you can help make these moments happen. When you pledge your support, you Nourish Malvern and build a healthier community.

Let's Break Bread🍞💚

By sourcing produce from local farmers, Natalie is making a conscious choice to keep her business connected to the people growing food close to home. It’s a relationship that helps local farmers, brings locally grown ingredients into the food she creates and keeps more of our food rooted in community.

Her story is a reminder that supporting local can create a ripple effect. Come and stop by Two Sisters Bake at the Malvern Farmers’ Market.🎉

A shared meal can mean so much more than food on a plate. 💚

A familiar dish, a conversation with someone new, the feeling of belonging. Food brings us together and reminds us that we are part of something bigger.

We know that rising food costs are making things tougher for many families. By sharing food and caring for each other, we can help ease that burden and remember that we are not alone.

At MFRC, we see this kindness every day from community, volunteers, staff, donors and supporters who help make a difference. That’s something to be thankful for: a community where we all show up for each other.

Your support helps keep these shared meals and moments of connection part of everyday life in Malvern. 💚

September 30 is a time to remember, reflect and to think about how we move forward together.🧡

We need to make room for the stories, histories and lived experiences of Indigenous People in what we learn, the conversations that we have and how we show up in our communities.

MFRC's Executive Director, Niambi Martin-John, shares a message to remind us that we all have a part to play in advancing truth and reconciliation.

We encourage everyone in our community to take time today to listen, learn and reflect and to carry this commitment beyond today.
