To address labour shortages and build a future-ready workforce, Budget 2026 must align immigration with regional and sectoral needs, expand employer-connected training and work-integrated learning, and support greater workforce participation and smoother career transitions.

Ontario’s health data holds enormous potential, but fragmented systems continue to limit how effectively information can support patients, providers and public health.

Better-connected data can help Ontario strengthen public health surveillance, improve care coordination and build a more personalized, preventive health system.

That why we’re calling for governments and industry to advance the use of data by:

➡️ Building a comprehensive health data strategy

➡️ Standardizing data and establishing clear ownership agreements

➡️ Strengthening incentives for digital adoption

By making health information more secure, connected and useful, Ontario can reduce administrative burden, support more personalized care and improve public health surveillance and system performance.

To build a stronger economy, Ontario needs a stronger health care system.

Published today, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s Advancing Future-Ready Health Care in Ontario policy brief identifies three priorities to improve patient outcomes and support our province’s long-term economic growth:

➡️ Improve health data sharing through better governance and digital infrastructure

➡️ Modernize health procurement to prioritize outcomes, innovation and long-term value

➡️ Expand care closer to home through team-based care, virtual care and stronger workforce planning

“It’s time to treat health care as economic infrastructure. Better data, smarter procurement, and more care closer to home can improve patient outcomes, strengthen workforce participation, and deliver better value for patients. It will also support jobs for the future,” OCC President & CEO Daniel Tisch said.

The Ontario Chamber of Commerce welcomes the Government of Ontario’s response to the PULSE report and its focus on strengthening the province’s electricity distribution system.

Ontario businesses need reliable, affordable energy and the infrastructure to access it. We are pleased to see action on long-term planning, utility governance, procurement and domestic supply chains, alongside greater attention to the last-mile distribution infrastructure needed to connect businesses, housing and growing communities to power.

These priorities reflect issues raised through the OCC’s Energy Policy Council and will be important as Ontario works to meet rising electricity demand while remaining competitive.
