Our small but strong health team worked days, nights and weekends during the World Health Assembly, which marked a pivotal moment for the future of the World Health Organisation and the broader global health architecture. We appreciate WHO’s leadership in advancing reforms to meet today’s challenges - and WHO can count on us to stay engaged. That is what the EU does. Not because it is easy. Because the people on the other side of that promise deserve to know we will be there tomorrow, too.

Equality, participation and non-discrimination are at the heart of democracy.
Yet across the world, too many LGBTIQ+ persons still face violence, discrimination, hate speech and stigmatisation simply for being who they are. In more than 65 countries, consensual same-sex relations remain criminalised. Where discrimination persists, democracy cannot fully thrive. The EU remains committed to defending the human rights of all LGBTIQ+ persons and to promoting inclusive and democratic societies for all.

The EU created one of the largest areas of peaceful cooperation in modern history. It was never about everyone being the same - the EU is about belonging together, while embracing our diversity & shared values like democracy or equality. We might have different histories, but we all have a shared future.
