Our veterans served this country.
They deserve a roof over their heads.

The target has already been smashed with over £270,000 raised already!

But the need hasn’t gone away.

Help 4 Homeless Veterans, a local South Yorkshire charity, will use the money to buy and convert another house into safe accommodation.

That means:

✅ A proper bed instead of the streets
✅ Support for those living with PTSD
✅ A real chance to get back on their feet

They’ve already helped over 1,100 veterans. Every extra pound still helps more.

Our veterans fought for Britain.

🚨 MINEWORKERS’ PENSIONS: PAY THEM BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

Reform UK is calling on the Government to finally settle the Mineworkers’ Pension Scheme and pay its members before Christmas.

Here in Barnsley, we know just how much mining means to our communities. Generations of local men went underground, working in dangerous and demanding conditions to power our country. Their contribution must never be forgotten, and they deserve to be treated fairly.

Yet the Autumn Budget failed to provide a clear timetable, and the Prime Minister has still not given miners the answers they deserve.

Tragically, 18 former miners die every day without seeing this matter resolved. They have waited long enough.

If the Government fails to act, Reform UK commits to resolving the issue within 100 days of entering Government.

That means ending surplus sharing and the standstill mechanism, and immediately transferring the undistributed surplus funds, including the Guarantor’s Fund, to scheme members.

For Barnsley and former mining communities across the country, this is about fairness, dignity and recognising the sacrifices made by generations of miners.

No more delays. No more excuses. Miners deserve their money. 🇬🇧

🕰️ TOWN HALL UPDATE: CLOCK & FLAG 🇬🇧

Thank you to residents who have raised concerns about the Town Hall clock and the missing Union Flag.

We’re aware the clock is showing the incorrect time and are pushing to have it repaired this week, ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

The Union Flag was unfortunately damaged in last week’s storms. We’re working to get it replaced and flying again before Sunday.

Our Town Hall should look its best as Barnsley comes together to honour those who gave their lives for our country.

👻 GHOULISHLY GREAT GARDENS IN ATHERSLEY & NEW LODGE!

Cllr Jayne Hulme and Cllr Rocky Laybourn were out and about in Athersley and New Lodge on Friday night, judging the spookiest Halloween-decorated gardens across the ward! 🕷️🦇

There were some fantastic displays, but one resident may have taken things a little too far, scaring the kids with a cardboard cut-out of Keir Starmer! 😱😂 Just when we thought we’d seen the last of him!

👏🏼 A big thank you to everyone who got involved and brought some Halloween magic to our community.

🚨 LABOUR’S HIGH-COST ECONOMY IS HITTING OUR HIGH STREETS

Poundland is now facing administration, putting around 12,000 jobs across the UK at risk.

And here in Barnsley, we’ve already seen the impact, with around 100 jobs lost following the closure of Poundland’s Darton distribution centre.

Four Poundland stores serve communities across Barnsley. With the business now on the brink of administration and potential buyers looking to acquire parts of the chain, there are real concerns about how many stores and jobs could be lost locally.

Labour’s increases to employer National Insurance and the National Minimum Wage have piled further pressure on businesses already struggling to survive.

When businesses face rising employment costs, higher operating costs and an increasingly difficult trading environment, it is workers who ultimately risk paying the price.

We need to be asking serious questions about the Government’s economic policies and the impact they are having on businesses, jobs and our high streets.

Barnsley cannot afford to keep losing jobs. How many more businesses and livelihoods will be put at risk?

🚨 ANOTHER LABOUR STRONGHOLD FALLS!

Reform UK has won the Worksop East by-election in Bassetlaw, in the constituency of Labour MP and Home Office Minister Jo White!

Labour won all three seats in this ward last time with 74% of the vote. This time, Nancy secured 600 votes, beating Labour into second place with 485!

🌹 LAB: 37.1%
⬛ RES: 7.0%
🌳 CON: 6.8%
🌍 GRN: 3.2%

THE MESSAGE IS CLEAR:

🎨 SUPPORTING LOCAL TALENT IN HOYLAND

Councillors Pat Gregory, Brian Gregory and Chris Denton attended the launch of local artist Elaine Ackroyd’s new calendar at the Belmont Club.

Elaine, who also runs Elaine’s Barber’s, has put a lot of hard work into her artwork, with a share of the calendar’s profits going to Hoyland Hall, where her sister Julie lives.

👏🏼 A big well done to Elaine on her calendar launch, and a huge thank you to the Belmont Club for hosting the event.

As local councillors, it’s always a pleasure to get out into our communities, support local talent and celebrate the fantastic things our residents are doing.
