It’s been an incredibly busy day for the team supporting those experiencing homelessness & isolation at our breakfast drop-in. Throughout the day we were helping to support nursing teams to ensure those experiencing homelessness were able to attend appointments, sadly one man required A&E. We have been working with the Belfast Trust to help facilitate discharges helping relieve pressures on our health service, for one lady who has been sleeping rough for a year, tonight we helped facilitate accommodation for her, she was delighted and does never want to return to the street.
Our family group was incredible tonight as they got to meet young people from Ardoyne Youth Club who heard from our families on the devastating impact of drugs, our group is continuing to grow, we meet every Wednesday from 6pm until 8pm at the People’s Kitchen.
Our outreach team are just finishing their shift after engaging with 60+ individuals tonight offering a listening ear, referrals and provision of food and essential items. We will continue to advocate, support and respond to requests the best we can as a voluntary team, sadly the situation continues to deteriorate.
As the colder nights approach, we need to ensure extra provision and the response is what we require while working in partnership to achieve the best outcome for those on our streets.
