Today, KS1 had the very exciting school trip to Sewerby hall along with the other KS1 children in the federation. Here, we discovered precious artefacts once belonging to Amy Johnson! We even had a turn at handling one of the amazing trophies she was awarded. The children had lots of questions and gave many facts to the tour guides that we have learnt at school during our history topic. For example, one of our year 1 children said, “Did you know that when she was a secretary she became bored of using the typewriter? So even though she was a woman she became a pilot!” We then finished our day by having a go at orienteering through the Sewerby Gardens. We cracked the code and realised each word was related to Amy Johnson, such as Jason, engineer and courage.

We’ve been super busy this term in Nursery and EYFS with lots of autumn themed activities, we have made pumpkin soup, been on some outdoor scavenger hunts, looking at the signs of autumn and changes we might see and busy making lots of arts and crafts. 🍂🍁🌳🦉 We hope everyone has a lovely half term and we will see you all when we return. ✨

Reception enjoyed making patterns out of coloured blocks. We then used our knowledge of making patterns to make patterns out of digit cards. I am so impressed reception, well done! 🌟

Reception had a teddy bear picnic today in maths. We counted forwards and backwards from 1-10. We considered what comes before and after each number. 🐻 We finished our session singing the teddy bear picnic song.

What a wonderful harvest festival we shared this morning. A huge thank you to everyone who attended and those who donated so generously. Your kindness will make a real difference, as all food collected will be donated to our local food bank in Driffield. This special occasion was a lovely celebration of community and generosity, a brilliant reminder if our Christian vision of agents of change for our community! 🍓🥔🥫🍊
