🍁 Little Hands, Big Fun at Penilee! 🍁

What a fantastic Monday morning we had at our Womb to Move & Fit by 5 session in Penilee, Glasgow. Our little explorers were super busy growing their skills and having a blast.

Here is a peek at what we got up to this week:

✍️ Fine Motor Fun: We practiced our pencil grips to decorate lovely Autumn shapes, used toy hammers to get those balls moving, and even went fishing with rods to catch different emotions!

🚲 Big Energy Play: Our large equipment was a massive hit—the children loved zooming on the bikes, exploring the soft play, and balancing across the stepping stones.

We also enjoyed a delicious, healthy snack for the wee ones to keep their energy up. 😊

A huge thank you to Graham Cribbes from Aquarius Cleaning Company, and our charity partners at Hacking & Paterson for making this connection possible.

Tracey, our Head of Prisons & Safeguarding, and Fiona, our Director for Children and Families, were delighted to meet Graham and share more about our work. We are incredibly grateful for his generous donation, which will help us enhance the Family Visitor Centre at HMP Low Moss with resources and activities that support children and families during visits.

Thank you for your kindness, belief in our work, and commitment to making a difference for local families. ❤️

We have had the absolute best time bringing some Halloween magic and autumn-themed learning to our free sessions in West Dunbartonshire. Our Stay Play & Learn sessions in Bonhill, Dumbarton, and Clydebank were buzzing with energy, giggles, and lots of busy little hands.

Here’s a little peek at what our mini-monsters got up to:

🕷️ Handprint Spiders: Getting wonderfully messy while painting hands to make little creepy-crawly keepsakes! This hands-on activity is fantastic for exploring colours and textures while boosting fine motor skills and creative expression.

🍁 Autumn/Halloween Sensory Tray: The ultimate sensory exploration! The children loved feeling their way through autumn textures, sorting hidden treasures, and testing out their curiosity.

🧩 Spooky Learning Resources: We also lined up tons of fun, interactive resources to spark imagination, storytelling, and early cognitive development to keep everyone happily occupied all week long.

A huge thank you to all the amazing families who joined us across West Dunbartonshire to play, learn, and make memories together. We love seeing their imaginations shine! 🧡

🎃👻 Halloween Fun at HMP Perth Family Visits! 👻🎃

Families enjoyed two fantastic Halloween-themed events at HMP Perth, filled with laughter, creativity, and quality time.

Early Years Scotland and Family Contact Officers, Caitlin and Kayleigh, teamed up to create a welcoming atmosphere. Children and their families enjoyed themed fruit creations, sweet treats, and a delicious Halloween buffet supplied by SPS.

There was plenty of excitement on offer, including:

• Spooky Eyeball Races
• Witchy Funky Fingers challenges
• Halloween biscuit decorating
• Q-tip skeleton crafts
• Pumpkin decorating and pumpkin volcano experiments 🎃🌋

The visits provided a wonderful opportunity for families to spend meaningful time together in a child-friendly, engaging environment.

A special thank you to for kindly donating the pumpkins used throughout the activities. Their generous support helped make these events a true highlight. 🎃💜

It was lots of messy fun at our Stay Play & Learn session at Bonhill Community Centre in West Dunbartonshire.

The children used their hands to create little spider 🕷️paintings. Painting hands is a fun, sensory activity and it supports their physical, cognitive, social and emotional development while allowing them to explore colours, textures and creativity.
