The new campaign aims to drive up reporting of harassment on trains and support victims by raising awareness of behaviours like staring, intrusive questions and unwelcome comments.

Developed with Network Rail, Rail Delivery Group and British Transport Police, the campaign will be rolled out across stations, carriages and online, signposting to passengers how to report abuse and get help.

And a new Safer Railway Scheme will mean train operators must show what they are doing to tackle VAWG so women and girls can travel with confidence.

Created with BTP and the rail industry, operators will be assessed across 8 safeguarding and security criteria like how they support victims, protect vulnerable passengers and prevent crime and harassment.

Ever wondered what happens to a phone seized in a prison? 🔍

When an illegal phone is seized in a prison, it doesn't disappear into an evidence bag. It comes here.

At the Digital Forensics Laboratory, our specialists break through passwords and encryption to uncover networks that criminals thought were hidden.

Two seized devices recently led investigators to a single drone pilot supplying contraband to numerous prisons across the UK. He was prosecuted and sentenced to six years and 11 months behind bars.

This is what keeping our communities safe looks like.

The Deputy Prime Minister joined Faron Paul and the Fazamnesty team to see firsthand the impact of community outreach and early intervention work supporting young people affected by violence. 🤝

Trusted mentors, local organisations and early support can make a real difference to young people and communities.

📣 That’s why as part of our reforms to youth justice, we’re investing in a three-year £15.4m annual investment in the Turnaround programme - helping provide support before problems escalate.

80% of prolific adult offenders first committed a crime as a child. We need to intervene earlier to stop young people from falling into criminality.

And that’s exactly what we’re doing.

Today we’ve announced the biggest overhaul to the Youth Justice System through:

➡️ tougher community sentences and reducing ineffective short custodial sentences
➡️ additional funding in early intervention programmes to help 12,000 children at risk of offending
➡️ specialist services and support to tackle the drivers of offending and keep young people on track

Creating a modern, effective youth justice system that’s fit for the future, turns children away from crime and creates safer communities.

Prisoners at HMP Wormwood Scrubs took part in Chefs Unlocked, a cooking competition launched by Fred Sirieix and The Right Course that's giving prisoners real skills and real job opportunities in hospitality.

Here's why this matters.

When prison leavers get jobs, reoffending drops by up to nine percentage points. That means fewer victims, safer communities, and people turning their lives around.

The hospitality industry needs workers, and prisoners are getting the skills to fill those roles.

Chefs Unlocked is part of wider government efforts to get prisoners into work, including:

➡️ Employment Councils bringing together probation, prisons, employers and job centres
➡️ Employment Advisory Boards connecting business leaders with prisons to match training to real jobs

We’re making our communities safer through employment.

🌸 A garden rooted in growth, reflection, and skills-building.🌸

We marked one year of The Glasshouse Project’s award-winning garden at HMP Downview with Malin Andersson - survivor, motivational speaker, and women’s advocate.

During the visit, we spent time with the women who helped bring the space to life, alongside the staff and partners supporting rehabilitation through nature, creativity, and meaningful engagement within the justice system.

Too often, victims feel left in the dark about their own cases.

To help improve access to court transcripts, which are often costly, HM Courts & Tribunals Service has announced new research into how AI could support court transcription. The research will explore where AI could help reduce costs and increase transparency, while maintaining important safeguards.

Free access to transcripts of judges’ sentencing remarks is currently available to specific groups of victims, with plans to extend this to all Crown Court victims from Spring 2027.

Watch Charlotte, a survivor and campaigner for Open Justice For All, explain why access to transcripts matters for victims.
