So much more than a lovely garden Peggy's

There is something beautiful about a garden.

A garden does not demand perfection. It grows through changing seasons, unexpected weather, and careful tending. In many ways, dementia care is much the same.

When dementia enters a family’s life, it can feel as though pieces of a person’s story are slipping away. Memories may fade. Words may become harder to find. Familiar routines may change. Yet beneath those changes remains the same human being, deserving of dignity, respect, purpose, and love.

The measure of our care is not how much a person remembers. It is how faithfully we remember who they are.

Every person living with dementia carries a lifetime of experiences, relationships, triumphs, losses, wisdom, and love. Their value is not diminished by a diagnosis. Their story still matters. Their presence still matters.

As care partners, family members, friends, and professionals, we have the privilege of helping those stories continue to bloom. Through patience. Through kindness. Through presence. Through moments of connection that remind a person they are seen, valued, and loved.

“Behind every person with dementia is a story, a soul, and someone who still matters deeply.”

From terrace anthems to World Cup memories, football and music have the power to bring people together. Because football is more than a game - and no one should walk alone.

This Care Home Open Week 2026, we're celebrating the songs, stories and shared memories that help people living with dementia stay connected to the moments that matter.

Tune into the MIX channel on m4dRADIO.com this Wednesday 17 June at 11am to hear all your favourite terrace chants and enjoy a footy singalong!
