Road closure: A6 Buxton Road

Please be aware that the A6 Buxton Road is currently closed in both directions between Nangreave Road and Kennerley Road due to an ongoing police incident.

Please avoid the area where possible, allow extra time for your journey and use alternative routes.

Halloween Crafty Kids Pop-Up, Edgeley Library, 11am to 12pm

Meet children’s author Razia Maria Bashir at Bredbury Library, 2pm to 3pm, for a story and craft activity

Make your own flying bat at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, 2pm to 4pm, free and drop-in

Brave the tunnels on the Stockport Air Raid Shelters Half Term Family Tour, starting at 10am. Booking is essential and tickets are £8.50 per person.

Travelling through the A6, School Lane or Heaton Moor Road junction over the next 10 days? Please allow extra time for your journey.

From tomorrow, Friday 30 October, Electricity North West will be carrying out utility diversion works at the junction ahead of planned improvements.

The works will take place in phases, with temporary road closures and one-way restrictions:

• 30 October to 1 November: Heaton Moor Road will be one-way towards Heaton Moor.
• 2 to 6 November: School Lane will be closed at its junction with the A6.
• 6 to 8 November: Heaton Moor Road will be one-way towards Heaton Chapel and Reddish.

Signed diversion routes will be in place throughout.

Stockport’s having a bit of a main character moment... again.

If you’ve spotted cameras and crews around the borough recently, there’s a good reason...

From Clayface filming outside The Plaza Stockport to Daddy Issues, Adultery and even more Netflix filming taking place locally, Stockport is becoming an increasingly familiar sight on our screens.

And there’s home-grown talent behind the camera too. 7 Miles Out, from acclaimed Stockport filmmaker Carol Morley, was shot in Stockport! The film was selected for the Official Competition at the BFI London Film Festival.

It’s brilliant to see Stockport providing the backdrop for such a range of productions, bringing investment into the borough, supporting local businesses and showcasing Stockport to new audiences, while also seeing creative talent and stories with roots in the borough getting recognition.
