Exciting progress is being made on the new Marple Hub, with the building really starting to take shape ahead of its opening later this year.

✅ Brickwork is now complete and scaffolding removed
✅ External cladding is underway
✅ The swimming pool hall is taking shape, with tiling now started
✅ Internal works, including walls, ceilings and key installations, are progressing well

Over the coming weeks, work will continue on landscaping, pool tiling, changing areas and internal finishes.

Alongside the Hub, Marple Memorial Park is also set for improvements thanks to £500,000 from Sport England, including a new agility trail, pump track and improved walking routes, as well as a new multi-play frame and slide for families to enjoy.

The project continues to be shaped by the local community, with work ongoing on features like a new woodland path, seating, the Jubilee garden and even the relocation of the much-loved community frog.

Highways improvements are also underway, including a new zebra crossing on Hollins Lane and plans for a toucan crossing on Stockport Road.

Plans have been revealed for Bee Network's first purpose-built, fully electric bus depot – proposed for Stockport.

The new facility would support Greater Manchester’s growing fleet of zero-emission buses, helping deliver cleaner, quieter and more reliable journeys for passengers.

Proposed to be located on the former Lex Autolease site in Cheadle, the depot could accommodate around 200 electric buses and play an important role in both the transition to a fully electric bus fleet by 2030 and the wider transformation of Stockport town centre.

Residents can find out more and share their views at upcoming drop-in sessions:
📍 Cheadle Library – Wednesday 17 June, 4.30pm to 7.30pm
📍 Stockroom, Merseyway – Thursday 18 June, 4.30pm to 7pm
