Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS attended the virtual launch of Mission Senehjori - Assam Muga Silk USP on 02.06.2026. The initiative was launched by Hon'ble Ministers Jyotiraditya M Scindia along with Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, Pabitra Margherita & Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Government of India and other senior officials. Mission “Senehjori” aims to strengthen Assam’s unique Muga silk sector through cluster-based development, branding & value addition, positioning it as a globally competitive luxury textile ecosystem.

Member Secretary, Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS visited the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) on 02.06.2026 and interacted with students, scientists & faculty members on recent advancements and future prospects in the silk industry & sericulture sector. During the programme, Shri Sivakumar highlighted emerging developments in sericulture, scientific innovations, sustainable silk production and the growing role of & modern technologies in strengthening the Indian silk sector. He also reviewed CSB-funded projects, and held discussions with scientists on collaborative research & future strategies for development.

On 31.05.2026, Member Secretary Central Silk Board, Ministry of Textiles Shri P. Sivakumar, IFS visited CSB-SSBS, Coonoor and reviewed the progress & activities of the station. During the visit, Dr. Arunkumar G.S., Scientist-D briefed him on the ongoing research & developmental activities of the station, including the maintenance & conservation of valuable mulberry germplasm resources in the field. Shri Sivakumar appreciated the developmental initiatives undertaken by the centre and advised the station to prioritize the promotion & development of seri-tourism activities by leveraging the unique sericulture ecosystem and scenic environment of the region.
