Africa Mission - CLI Update
1. We praise God for the significant ministry that God did through us yesterday. We visited Kiambu Main Prison, outside of Nairobi, with a prison ministry team in partnership with Pastor Moses Kokoyo. We had a prayer breakfast and Donovan addressed the prison wardens at this prison encouraging them to allow Jesus to take their burdens, and commit their lives to him. Recently a prison warden from another location took his own life. So, the spiritual and mental health focus was very appreciated. I also used String Ministry to share Jesus. They found it very interesting and one of the prison chaplains wanted to learn it but we didn’t have enough time to train him this time.
2. Afterwards we met with about 400 inmates and Donovan shared from Jeremiah 1:5-12 under the topic: ‘You are Special’, pointing out that God has a good plan for their lives, whatever they have done or been through. I also shared string ministry helping them to realize that Jesus became a prisoner and died so that they/we can be set free. There was an altar call and 84 inmates came forward and afterwards another 50 came forward and all 113 said the sinners prayer. One of the prison ministry team remarked that it was the first time she has seen so many inmates accept Jesus. There are chaplains there that will do follow up with them. HALLELUJAH!!!! Afterwards we gave donations of Bibles, toilet paper, soap and writing pads. Praise the Lord for all those who partner with us!! Thanks for your partnership with us.
3. Today October 29 we did a su***de prevention seminar in Kamulu which is a rural area east of Nairobi. We are grateful for the nine, mainly leaders who were exposed to su***de prevention. Most are pastors and one person is a nurse. They found the information helpful as they learnt a lot. The conversation has started and we give thanks.
