Koes Village Council in the //Kharas Region is the latest local authority to participate in the National Informal Settlement Upgrading Programme (NISUP), following the recent signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with NHE. Acting CEO Johan Brandt said demand for low-cost housing in Koes is high, making the partnership particularly timely. NHE South Branch Manager, Ambrosius Khachab, confirmed that assessment of client’s affordability has already commenced with construction of houses expected to start before the end of the year.

Commencement of installation of services (sewerage, water, roads and electricity) for the development of 151 housing units in Kuisebmund, Walvis Bay. The Enterprise has invested N$40 million on the project and construction of top structures is expected to start in October 2027.

Yesterday, the newly commissioned Board of Directors of the Enterprise held its first engagement session with staff, reaffirming its commitment to sound governance, strategic leadership, and organisational excellence. During the meeting, the Board formally introduced the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Albertina Ngurare, and expressed its confidence in her leadership as she steers the organisation during the transitional period. The Board further underscored the importance of collaboration, accountability, and a shared commitment to advancing NHE's mandate of providing decent and affordable housing for the benefit of all Namibians. The Board was appointed on 06 October 2026 to lead the organization for three (3) years.

NEW NHE BOARD COMMISSIONED - The Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Hon. Sankwasa James Sankwasa, has commissioned the new Board of Directors of the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) for a three-year term, effective from 6 October 2026 to 5 October 2029. The Board will be chaired by Dr. Postrick Mushendami, with Ms. Selma-Penna Utonih serving as Deputy Chairperson. Other members are Mr. Russell Mufaya, Ms. Happie Ntelamo and Mr. Fernando Somaeb. Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Sankwasa called on the Board to provide sound leadership and ensure that NHE fulfils its mandate, emphasizing that the provision of decent and affordable housing must remain a priority for the benefit of the Namibian people.
