𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗔 𝗗𝗔𝗬 | 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁

On 30 October 2026, NAMFISA hosted a successful Media Day, creating an important platform for engagement, learning, and collaboration with members of the media and key stakeholders.

The session focused on educating participants about the Financial Institutions and Markets Act, 2021 (FIMA) and the Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority Act, 2021 (Act No. 3 of 2021), while highlighting NAMFISA’s mandate in regulating and supervising Namibia’s non-banking financial sector.

Discussions also covered important consumer-focused topics, including credit scores, financial literacy, market conduct, and the prevention of malpractices within the financial sector. Beyond knowledge sharing, the event also served as a valuable networking platform, strengthening relationships between NAMFISA, the media, and industry stakeholders.

Together, we continue to promote a transparent, informed, and resilient financial sector for Namibia.

FINANCIAL EDUCATION STARTS AT THE WORKPLACE!

NAMFISA brought consumer education to Khomas High School, where **Junias Erasmus** led an engaging workplace forum to educate teachers on their financial rights and responsibilities.

Teachers, like all consumers, need reliable information to make sound financial choices, understand the terms of financial products, recognise potential risks and know where to seek assistance when their rights are compromised.

Through these engagements, NAMFISA strengthens financial awareness and promotes responsible financial behaviour in our communities.

The Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority (NAMFISA), led by Junias Erasmus, successfully conducted a Consumer Education Presentation for teachers at Moses II Garoëb Primary School in Windhoek.

The engagement focused on equipping teachers with essential knowledge about financial consumer rights, responsibilities, and the importance of making informed financial decisions. By empowering teachers with this knowledge, NAMFISA contributes to building financially informed communities, as educators can also help share this knowledge beyond the classroom.

The successful session reaffirmed NAMFISA’s commitment to promoting financial literacy, strengthening consumer awareness, and protecting financial consumers through education.

NAMFISA engaged members of the Metal and Allied Namibian Workers Union (MANWU), raising awareness of consumers’ rights and responsibilities, responsible borrowing, registered financial service providers, and protection against financial scams and fraud.

Through consumer education, NAMFISA promotes informed financial decisions and responsible financial behaviour.
