𝗗𝗢𝗛 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗗 𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗚𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗦 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗡𝗖𝗗𝘀; 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗗𝗦 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗡 𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗣𝗛𝗘𝗡

To address the rising burden of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), the Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH Central Visayas CHD) conducted an Integrated Training on the Philippine Package on Essential Non-Communicable Diseases Intervention (PhilPEN) and Basic Foot Care on May 12–14, 2026, at Sarrosa Hotel and Residential Suites, Cebu City.

The initiative integrated the prevention and management of major noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), particularly cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and chronic respiratory diseases, into primary health care. Through the implementation of the PhilPEN protocol, the Department of Health aimed to standardize screening and improve equitable access to care in support of Universal Health Care (UHC) goals.

‼️𝗗𝗢𝗛 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗟 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗔𝗬𝗔𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗦 𝟳𝟭𝟳 𝗦𝗨𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗙𝗥𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞𝗦𝗛𝗢𝗣‼️

The Department of Health Central Visayas Center for Health Development welcomed Regional Disease Surveillance Officers and their attached units for the four-day workshop on the 717 Surveillance Framework on May 25-28, 2026 at Quest Hotel Cebu.

Participants from the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (RESU), Regional Health Emergency Management Services (RHEMS), Integrated Public Health Laboratories (IPHL), Provincial DOH Offices, and local government units from Cebu Province and Highly Urbanized Cities gathered to identify challenges and develop strategies in addressing potential disease emergencies.

Regional Director Dr. Joshua G. Brillantes commended the participation of partner DOH hospitals in Cebu, emphasizing the importance of integrating clinical perspectives in strengthening disease surveillance and emergency response discussions.

The workshop was facilitated by the Epidemiology Bureau together with representatives from DOH CALABARZON and global partners from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC).

This regional initiative aims to:
✅ Strengthen disease surveillance systems
✅ Enhance early detection and response mechanisms
✅ Improve coordination among health sectors and partners
✅ Develop strategic solutions for potential public health threats
✅ Reinforce preparedness and prevention efforts in communities

Through the 717 Surveillance Framework, DOH continues to strengthen public health preparedness and ensure a more responsive and resilient health system for Central Visayas.

With this year’s call, “Wag Magpaloko sa V**e at Sigarilyo,” the health event strengthens public awareness on the harmful effects of to***co and v**e use, especially among the youth, while encouraging individuals and families to choose a healthier lifestyle.

The event also highlights the collective commitment of communities, partners, and stakeholders in creating safer environments that support wellness, clean air, and a to***co-free future for all.

Together, let us protect health, inspire change, and build a generation free from to***co and v**e addiction.
