The Department of Energy (DOE) and the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC), under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., have secured 21,000 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to reinforce the country’s fuel reserves and help ensure a stable supply for millions of Filipino households.

The shipment, consisting of refrigerated propane and butane sourced from the United States, arrived on 30 May 2026 at the SPI Terminal in Calaca, Batangas. Procured under the DOE’s Emergency Energy Security Program, the cargo forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to strengthen energy security and safeguard consumers from potential supply disruptions amid ongoing volatility in global oil markets.

“What this government has accomplished reflects President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s clear directive to strengthen the country's energy security and ensure that Filipinos have access to a stable and reliable fuel supply,” said Energy Secretary Sharon S. Garin. “This shipment demonstrates the government's commitment to staying ahead and protecting the welfare of our people through a secure and resilient energy sector.”

The successful arrival of the shipment highlights the government’s proactive approach to maintaining adequate fuel reserves and ensuring the continuous availability of LPG for households, communities, and businesses that rely on it for their daily needs. The DOE remains committed to implementing timely measures that will help protect the country from supply constraints and strengthen the nation’s overall energy resilience.
