Ruiz-Chua together with Information Technology Officer II and ILCDB Regional Focal Mr. Evence Michael C. Baguilat is currently holding a coordination meeting with Ms. Jennifer Garcia, the head of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office - Pangasinan.

​This collaborative effort lays the groundwork for the upcoming IT Challenge for Persons with Disabilities, an initiative that will now become an annual event dedicated to highlighting and championing the exceptional ICT competency of persons with disabilities. 🤝🎯

READ | The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) in the Ilocos Region underscores the growing role of digital technology in expanding livelihood and employment opportunities for Filipinos during the Kapihan sa Ilocos of the Philippine Information Agency on June 1.

Speaking at the forum, DICT Ilocos Officer-in-Charge Regional Director Dr. Jaemie D. Ruiz-Chua highlights the agency’s efforts to develop a future-ready workforce through digital skills training, describing its initiative as “OFW 2.0” or “Online Filipino Workers.”

She notes that with the rise of digital platforms and remote work opportunities, Filipinos can now build sustainable careers and earn income online while working from their homes.

Through its Strengthening the Philippine Workforce through Adaptive and Responsive Digital Knowledge (SPARK) program, the DICT provides free technical training in social media marketing, graphic design, general virtual assistance, and other in-demand digital competencies designed to prepare participants for opportunities in the digital economy.

The agency also continues to broaden its digital literacy initiatives for students, senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), women, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), enabling more sectors to harness digital technologies for learning, entrepreneurship, and employment.

Ruiz-Chua emphasizes that these programs strengthen digital inclusion, enhance workforce competitiveness, and equip Filipinos with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven and interconnected world.
