The 𝟔𝒕𝒉 𝑺𝑨𝑳𝑰𝑲𝑺𝑰𝑲𝑳𝑨𝑩𝑨𝑵: 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒚-𝒘𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒈𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒕𝒆 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 officially concluded on May 25–26, 2026, gathering the brightest undergraduate researchers of Tarlac State University (TSU) in a two-day celebration of innovation, creativity, and evidence-based research.

Organized by the 𝑶𝒇𝒇𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒑𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 (𝑶𝑰𝑩𝑫), this year’s SALIKSIKLABAN featured 𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒚-𝒔𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒏 (𝟑𝟕) competing research entries under the 𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒔, 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝑳𝒂𝒘, 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 (𝑨𝑩𝑳𝑬𝑺𝑺) and 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚, 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 (𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑴) categories — surpassing the number of entries from the previous year and further reflecting the growing research culture within the university.

The competition provided student researchers with an avenue to present innovative and socially responsive studies that may contribute to community development, technology transfer, and intellectual property generation.

REPOST | The Office of Innovation, Business and Development (OIBD) concluded the 6th Saliksiklaban, the university-wide undergraduate research competition, with the presentation of twenty (20) inventions and researches from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) category yesterday (May 27) at the Center for Food Technology and Research AVR, Lucinda campus.

The STEM category was paneled by Engr. Edward Lacson, Technology Business Incubator - Knowledge, Innovation, and Technology Transfer Office Head of the Holy Angel University; Dr. Marilene Hipolito, registered chemist and Associate Professor IV at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST); and Engr Dennis Dela Cruz, licensed Electronics Engineer and faculty member at Bulacan State University.

“I enjoyed my entire stay here at TSU, ang gagaling ninyong lahat. Nabilib ako at sabi ko nga, pang-graduate studies level ang mga research ninyo, “ Engr. Lacson said in his speech.

The awarding ceremony was also held that afternoon to recognize outstanding research in the fields of STEM and ABLESS (Arts, Business, Law, Education, and Social Sciences).

After the 𝑨𝒓𝒕𝒔, 𝑩𝒖𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔, 𝑳𝒂𝒘, 𝑬𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑺𝒐𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔 (𝑨𝑩𝑳𝑬𝑺𝑺) teams presented yesterday, 20 groups from 𝑺𝒄𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆, 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚, 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑴𝒂𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒔 (𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑴) are now up to showcase their inventions to the judges.

The 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 will follow later this afternoon at the 𝑪𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝑭𝒐𝒐𝒅 𝑻𝒆𝒄𝒉𝒏𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒈𝒚 𝑹𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒉 𝑨𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒐 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝑹𝒐𝒐𝒎 (𝑪𝑭𝑻𝑹 𝑨𝑽𝑹) right after all the presentations.

REPOST | Seventeen (17) entries for the Arts, Business, Law, Education, and Social Sciences (ABLESS) category competed during the 6th Saliksiklaban on Monday (May 25) held at the Center for Food Technology and Research AVR, Lucinda campus.

Saliksiklaban is a university-wide undergraduate research competition that provides students with an avenue to develop social intellect, creative thinking, and innovation, and to foster a strong research culture in the university while inspiring them to conduct evidence-based research.

“Research must never end in the archive; too many find studies in this country are bound [to a] shelf and never open again. In fact, part of the DALAN program is to utilize our research, community-based research," University President Dr. Jasper Jay Mendoza said in his speech.

The ABLESS category (day 1) was paneled by Dr. Kenneth Armas, Director of the Planning and Development Office at the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST), Dr. Joseph Richard Mejia, an author and full-time professor at PHINMA University of Pangasinan, and Dr. Danzen Olazo, Assistant Professor, Department of Management of Holy Angel University.

Organized by the Office of Innovation and Business Development, the 6th Saliksiklaban features thirty-eight (38) competing teams from ABLESS and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) categories.

The morning and afternoon sessions were attended by the 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 and 𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡-𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐂𝐄 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬. Both batches went through an in-depth discussion on how to protect their future innovations and navigate the world of business through IP.
