Heart-healthier rice took centre stage at the "Whole Grains for Heart Health: Are you a Grain Champion?" event held today (29 May 2026) over at our Heart Wellness Centre @ Bishan.
At the event, participants were introduced to various heart-healthier rice options and their health benefits, followed by a tasting session. Coupled with the scrumptious plant-based protein dishes carefully prepared by our Heart Wellness Centre clients and Senior Dietitian Natalie Yeo, the session proved that whole grains and plant-based proteins can both be delicious as they are good for the heart!
Tasting is believing, and the fulfilment on the faces of our participants says it all!
Thank you to our partner, Tong Seng Produce Pte Ltd (SongHe Rice), HWC clients, and all participants for making this event a success!

The assembly hall at the Bukit View Primary School was teeming with excitement as we rolled out our new pilot initiative known as "BP Buddies" today (29 May 2026) to more than more than 60 pairs of student-parent participants, in conjunction with our May Blood Pressure Measurement Month campaign this year.
The launch event was graced by Mr David Hoe, Adviser to Jurong East-Bukit Batok GRC Grassroots Organisations (Clementi).
BP Buddies is an enhanced version of our still-ongoing BP Initiative @ Schools Programme, which has spread important heart health knowledge about the prevention and early detection of hypertension to thousands of students and school staff members nationwide over the last 17 years.
The new initiative will empower not just primary school students, but also one of their parents, with heart health knowledge about hypertension, making them “buddies” in a drive to promote blood pressure awareness together as SHF’s heart health advocates.
Each student-parent pair was also provided with a complimentary blood pressure monitor, as a gesture of our commitment to empower and encourage them to train others with the knowledge they have gained.
Thank you to all our partners at Bukit View Primary School, which has been our long-time supporter for our BP Initiative @ Schools Programme for the past 11 years!

Partnering with the People's Association, we are excited to have rolled out our second “Ready at Heart” community engagement event at the Ivory Heights condominium on 24 May 2026.
Ms Grace Fu, Advisor to Jurong East Bukit Batok GRC GRO (The Yuhua Family) , officiated at the event which empowered residents with knowledge regarding heart health and cardiac emergency preparedness.
During the event, SHF's Assistant Honorary Secretary, Asst Prof Yeo Tee Joo, shared eight simple tips to maintain a healthier heart and the ways to recognise the risk factors of cardiovascular disease, plus the importance of early intervention during a cardiac emergency.
Residents of Ivory Heights also participated in booth activities and tried their hand at the CPR Self-Learning Kiosks to get a firsthand experience of performing CPR chest compressions.
Thank you to all who made this event a success and stayed committed to shape the future of Singapore's heart health with us!

Nab the silent killer! ❤️
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a leading cause of cardiovascular disease and is infamously known as a "silent killer" as it often shows no symptom.
The good news is that you can easily detect it with a quick check on a blood pressure monitor and seek medical advice as early as possible.
This World Hypertension Day, make it your resolution and habit to check your blood pressure regularly and take charge of your heart health!
