Boating season is here! Make sure you're ready to enjoy the water by renewing your boat registration as soon as possible.
In our state, boat registrations are good for the period of July 1 through June 30 each year. This is a popular time to renew, so don't delay. If your boat is currently registered, renew online or visit a vehicle/vessel licensing office in person.

Warm weather is on its way, and so are the season's best celebrations.
For residents and visitors, please remember that fireworks are prohibited on Bainbridge Island by City ordinance (Chapter 8.28). Violation of the municipal code is a civil infraction and is subject to a monetary penalty and a default amount of $500.00 plus statutory assessments. Continued violation is a misdemeanor offense

Kitsap 911 has implemented AI-assisted technology on our new non-emergency phone line at 360-328-7711.
Every day, Kitsap 911 answers both emergency and non-emergency calls from our community. While every call matters, not every situation requires an emergency response. AI-assisted technology can help answer routine questions, collect information, and connect callers with the right resources more quickly.
What does that mean for the community?
🚨 Faster access to emergency call takers during critical incidents
📞 Reduced wait times for non-emergency callers
👩💻 Better support for dispatch staff during high call volumes
⏱ More efficient service overall
Artificial intelligence will not replace our telecommunicators. It is a tool designed to support the professionals who remain at the center of emergency communications every day.
The non-emergency line should be used for situations that do not require an immediate police, fire, or medical response, including noise complaints, parking concerns, abandoned vehicles, crimes that are not currently in progress, or incidents that occurred earlier and are being reported after the fact, such as thefts, vandalism, or property damage. Emergencies or situations involving an immediate threat to life, safety, or property should still be reported to 911.
For non-emergency assistance, call 360-328-7711.

Bike to School Day is tomorrow! Bike to School Day invites students to celebrate the joy of active commuting while building a sense of community and school spirit. It’s also a great opportunity for families to get outside and get moving together!
As you participate, remember the importance of following the rules of the road.
• Plan your route on roads with sidewalks or paths away from traffic. If there are no sidewalks, walk or ride as far from cars as possible.
• Use crosswalks, preferably at stop signs or signals. If there are unmarked crosswalks, cross at corners on streets with fewer lanes and lower speed limits.
• Always look left-right-left before crossing the street. Continue to scan for traffic as you cross the street.
• Watch for cars entering/leaving driveways or parking spaces.
• Always wear a helmet when riding or rolling.
• Be aware of your surroundings. Keep earbud or headphone volume low enough so you can still hear around you.
• Be safe, be seen! Wear reflective gear or bright clothing.
Drivers should be extra careful and anticipate more foot and bike traffic the morning of May 15, as well as be prepared to stop for school buses and children crossing the street. Drivers should always watch their speed and slow down in school zones.
With that said, strap on your helmet, lace up your shoes and let’s Ride!
