Friday was Recruit School graduation for Landen Berguson at the Anniston Fire Department Regional Training Center. This was the culminating event for the ten-week program that certifies new firefighters. Landen joined Cahaba Valley before starting Recruit School and will be returning to A Shift. Join us in congratulating Landen on his achievement.

Ben Milam is our most recent member to pass the National Registry exam for EMT Basic. He reached this achievement after months of preparation. He joined CVFD in April 2025 and is currently assigned to B Shift at Station 184 in Rex Lake.

US National Weather Service Birmingham Alabama has raised the potential for severe weather to Level 3 for Wednesday, May 6. We will continue to monitor this situation and ask that you stay aware of the weather as well.
⚠️UPDATED Severe Weather Forecast Update for Wednesday Night through Early Thursday Morning as of 1:55pm Tuesday:
🚨Level 3 of 5 Risk is now in the forecast for locations roughly along the I-20/59 corridor. The Enhanced Risk was included for an increased chance for tornadoes, along with large hail and damaging winds. A level 1 to 2 out of 5 risk remains elsewhere across Central Alabama.
OVERNIGHT EVENT: We're expecting the chance for severe storms to begin as early as 6pm, with multiple rounds of storms moving from west to east through the overnight hours as a cold front slowly moves south across the area. Have your severe weather plan ready, and have multiple ways to recieve warnings - most importantly have something that can wake you up such as a NOAA Weather Radio, smartphone app, and make sure Wireless Emergency Alerts are ON. We'll keep you updated with the latest!

Congratulations to Firefighter David Gill, Lieutenant Christine Shores, and Captain Patrick Fowler on their graduation as part of the 2025-2026 Class of the Alabama Public Safety Leadership Academy. APSLA is a nine-month program designed to promote personal growth and leadership development, as well as to build connections across professional lines that would strengthen the statewide public safety fabric and give academy graduates enhanced tools to use in the future. These individuals join seven other Cahaba Valley members who are also graduates of the APSLA program.

ADEM’s (Alabama Department of Environmental Management) Annual Burn Ban for Shelby County from May 1, 2025, to October 31, 2025, is now in effect. The ban is in effect due to air quality control standards (Federal Clean Air Act).
No vegetative or land-clearing burning is allowed from May 1 to October 31 of each year in the following Counties: Baldwin, Mobile, DeKalb, Montgomery, Etowah, Morgan, Jefferson*, Shelby, Lawrence, Russell, Madison and Talladega.
