Incoming TL/DR post, most likely…in some bittersweet news, after 2 and a half years as Community and Media Relations, this will be my last week with the wonderful Nampa School District. I have humbly accepted a position with a great organization that I will love and work seamlessly with, but also one that is located just a few blocks from my daughter’s school. But with that, I want to attempt to express what this job and district has meant to me:
First off, Nampa, I absolutely love you. The people I have met in this community, including so many from Nampa Police Department, Nampa Idaho Fire Department, City of Nampa, Idaho - Municipal Government, 2C Kids Succeed, Nampa Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis Club of Nampa, and so many more are some of the best people I have ever known and worked with. This is such a caring community that is always looking out for each other. But as for this district, I cannot tell you how lucky I am to have been a part of the amazing people behind the scenes here. You took a chance on a longtime broadcaster who had a love and appreciation for education, and together, we invented a blueprint for what seems to be the new standard for school communications in the area. It has been my absolute honor getting to work with the men and women at the district office who care so much about public education while constantly having to fight underfunding and ever-changing policies to keep public education in Canyon County, Idaho alive and well. You truly became my family away from family, my teammates that I would go to battle for any day, and most importantly as someone who had been in the tv news business for over 11 years and forgotten what it felt like, you showed me genuine appreciation. I will always be a friend and advocate for NSD.
And of course, to the students and staff in the many schools I have visited in this district, you give me hope for the future. I am so proud to have been able to tell so many of your stories. It has been my honor. Here’s to a strong finish this week with too many projects that I’m trying to knock out before passing the reins to TBD! What a wonderful ride it has been…
