Born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi, Darran has built a career rooted in storytelling, service, and community impact. From his beginnings in broadcast journalism to serving as the Public Information Officer for the Raleigh Police Department, his journey is a testament to the power of using your voice to inform, inspire, and uplift others.

Throughout his career, Darran has covered major national and local stories, led crisis communications with integrity, and remained deeply committed to serving communities with compassion and professionalism. His passion for people and purpose makes him the perfect voice for this year’s celebration of giving back.

🎓 Scholarship Opportunity Alert 🎓

The Shirley Franklin Tyree Scholarship is now open for applications!

This $3,000 award supports Black or African American college students pursuing a degree in education at an HBCU, including Central State University and Wilberforce University.

📌 Requirements:
• 3.0 GPA or higher
• At least 30 completed credit hours

Ivy Community Service Foundation of Cary, Inc. (ICSFC) is now accepting applications for the 2026 Chronic Illness Advocacy & Support Grant Program 🔗 in bio.

We’re awarding a minimum of three (3) $2,000 grants to 501(c)(3) organizations serving Wake County residents and making a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and families affected by chronic illness.

Priority areas include:
✨ Multiple Sclerosis
✨ Sickle Cell Disease
✨ Lupus
✨ Diabetes
✨ Caregiver support initiatives

We’re especially seeking programs that improve health outcomes, expand access to care and resources, promote awareness and early intervention, and reduce disparities in our communities.

📅 Application Deadline: April 17, 2026 (5:00 PM)
📣 Awards Announced: May 1, 2026
📍 Must serve Wake County residents

The Ivy Community Service Foundation of Cary (ICSFC) is proud to announce the opening of our 2026 Chronic Illness Advocacy & Support Grant Program.

We are awarding $2,000 grants to at least three nonprofit organizations serving Wake County residents affected by chronic illness.

This funding supports programs that provide:
💜 Direct services & advocacy
💜 Education & awareness
💜 Support for individuals and caregivers

With a focus on:
