This year during Hispanic Heritage Month, we’ve celebrated the stories, leadership, and contributions of Latino communities in Charlotte—and the organizations that help create pathways to opportunity. And, at the conclusion of this month-long celebration, we'd like to share one more story.
For Angy Gomez, a visit to Charlotte Bilingual Learning Center began a journey that would transform three generations of her family. Through CBLC’s Workforce Development program, Angy earned her North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials, became an apprentice teacher, and ultimately returned to CBLC as a Family Educator. Today, her mother participates in CBLC’s Home-Based Childcare program, while her daughter recently began preschool there.
As Angy puts it: “My education had value. My experience had value. My story had value. And I had value, too.”
This is the power of investing in education, opportunity, and belonging—and the ripple effect one organization can have across generations.
