After years of renting, those were the words Larry Spencer said as he stood in the home he finally owned.

Homeownership is more than having a place to live. It’s stability, security, and the opportunity to build wealth and invest in the future. Through innovative partnerships and community-driven solutions, more families in our region are finding pathways to homeownership.

Last week, residents of Crozet Meadows enjoyed a special hair care event hosted by Resident Services in partnership with Courtney Shelton of Humane Hair.

Residents spent time together while enjoying a little extra TLC, including hair trims, fresh styles, and plenty of smiles. The joy on their faces was truly priceless.

What does community care look like? Sometimes, it means helping a family stay in their home.

Sunshine Mathon, Executive Director of Piedmont Housing Alliance, shares why housing stability matters and how eviction prevention efforts help neighbors navigate difficult moments with dignity and support.
