Two weeks ago, in collaboration with Twin Social (IG: ), CWA Co-President Olivia Miller and NYC Metro Chair Meggie Hool hosted a creative and unique air dry clay workshop social!
Guests couldn’t have asked for a more picturesque environment to let their creativity flow! Some creations even included our own (clay version) Phil the Phoenix. As the clay was shaped into everyone’s creations, guests had the chance to bounce ideas off each other, reconnect with old friends, and meet some new people! Huge thank you again to Heather and everyone at Twin Social who made this event possible!

CWA Chicago Metro Chair Phoebe Choi AB’22 ended July in Chicago with a night of Broadway hits! On July 26, the CWA listened to the Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus perform songs from The Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Showboat, and more.
The night celebrated the legacy of composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Oscar Hammerstein II and welcomed three guest Broadway stars. The wonderful performance with Chicago’s skyline as the backdrop is one we’ll be remembering for a while! A huge thanks to Phoebe for securing the perfect spot on the lawn and hosting this night of music and alumni connection!

Honoring AAPI Heritage Month with Movement, Culture, and Connection
In celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, members of the Chicago Women’s Alliance (CWA) and the Pan-Asian Alumni Network (PAAN) gathered for an immersive cultural experience at Chicago Aikikai, one of the city’s oldest aikido dojos. The session was led by instructors who are also proud University of Chicago alumni, adding a meaningful connection to our campus community. Attendees explored the philosophy and practice of aikido—a Japanese martial art grounded in harmony, presence, and flow—through movement and reflection. This collaborative event offered a powerful way to honor AAPI heritage while deepening ties across cultural and alumni networks.

This Saturday, CWA NYC celebrated AAPI Heritage Month together making summer rolls and papaya salad at Bayon, a top-notch authentic Cambodian restaurant on the Upper East Side. Following the preparation of these dishes, University of Chicago alumni got to enjoy their creations in addition to a few other dishes on the menu. Nothing beats good food and conversation with fellow alumni!
This collaboration between CWA NYC, led by NYC Metro Chairs Rakhee Jain AB’16 and Abby Jackman AB’22, and Bayon was a phenomenal experience crafted by (and made possible thanks to) Arlene Wang AB’14. Check out Bayon: https://www.bayonnyc.com!
