Today is Buckle Up Phone Down Day, and the Clayton Police Department is joining the MoDOT - St. Louis in reminding drivers that two simple choices can make a life-saving difference: buckle up every trip and put your phone down every drive!

Distracted driving is a leading cause of crashes nationwide. According to AAA, texting while driving increases the risk of a crash by 50%. In Missouri alone, cellphones contributed to nearly 2,247 crashes in 2022.

A moment of distraction can have serious consequences. Put your phone away before you start driving, and resist the urge to check messages, make calls, or interact with your device behind the wheel.

Remember, even the safest drivers can be involved in a crash caused by someone else. Wearing your seat belt every time you get into a vehicle is one of the best ways to protect yourself from serious injury or death.

Help us spread the word and make Missouri roads safer for everyone!

Today, we recognize and thank the dedicated men and women of the Clayton Police Department and the City of Clayton Fire Department for their unwavering commitment to protecting and serving our community.

Our first responders answer the call every day, responding to emergencies, supporting neighbors during moments of crisis, and helping those in need. Their courage, professionalism, and compassion reflect the very best of Clayton.

To our colleagues at friends at the CFD and to first responders throughout our region and across the nation, thank you for your service, dedication, and sacrifice. We are grateful for all you do to keep us safe.

We truly appreciated their insight into the judicial process and are grateful for the hard work they do every day to help keep our community safe.

With Halloween just a week away, we want to remind you that safety Doesn’t Have to Be Scary!

Halloween is all about spooky fun, creative costumes, and sweet treats. Keep the scares where they belong by remembering these three simple tips:

BE SAFE - Bring a buddy, use sidewalks and crosswalks, and watch for traffic and trip hazards.

BE SEEN - Carry a flashlight, wear reflective material or blinking lights, and choose a costume that doesn’t block your vision.

BE AWARE - Stick to well-lit areas, know your route, stay alert to your surroundings, and let someone you trust know your plans.

A little preparation goes a long way toward making Halloween a treat for everyone!

Don't forget, tomorrow (Oct. 24th) is National DEA Drug Take-Back Day. Stop by the CPD any time between 10 AM and 2 PM to safely dispose of your expired, unused, or unwanted medications.

Thank you to everyone who braved the chilly, rainy weather last Friday to join us for Party in the Patch! Despite the less-than-perfect weather conditions, we had a spooky good time celebrating with our community.

We’re grateful to everyone who came out, helped make the event special, and made the evening one to remember. Thank you for your continued support and for making events like this so much fun, rain or shine!
