The City of Dallas has received an important update in its legal challenge involving the City’s short-term rental (STR) ordinances.

On October 23, 2026, the Supreme Court of Texas granted the City’s petition for review in City of Dallas v. Dallas Short-Term Rental Alliance, et al. The case challenges the City’s 2023 short-term rental ordinances, which have been subject to a temporary injunction preventing enforcement while the litigation proceeds.

The Court has scheduled oral arguments for December 3, 2026. Nicholas Palmer, Appellate Chief for the City of Dallas City Attorney’s Office, led the City’s appellate efforts.

The City will continue to pursue its position before the Supreme Court of Texas, and further updates will be shared as the case progresses.
