🇺🇸 Legacy Journeys | Washington, D.C. | Day 5: Our Final Day 🇺🇸

What a way to wrap up an unforgettable week! On our last day in the nation’s capital, our resident travelers toured the U.S. Capitol and paid a visit to the White House. 🏛️✨

Over lunch, the table was full of reflection and gratitude. We shared favorite moments, laughed about the adventures, and talked about how much this week meant to each of us. One of the sweetest parts of this trip was watching everyone grow closer. Travel companions became friends, and these shared memories are ones we’ll be laughing about and looking back on fondly for years to come. 💙

We’re happy to report that everyone made it home safe and sound! 🏡

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who supports the Legacy Journeys program. Your generosity makes trips like this possible for residents who might never otherwise get to experience them. This is what it’s all about. 🙏

Legacy Journey: Washington, D.C. | Day 4, Part 3 🍽️✨

After a day full of reflection and remembrance, it was time for some good food, good company, and plenty of laughter!

Our travelers headed to Casamara in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, and it quickly became the group’s favorite restaurant of the entire trip so far! 🙌 Casamara is a glamorous coastal Mediterranean dining room that opened in 2025 inside the Sixty Hotel, bringing the flavors and rhythm of the Mediterranean to D.C. with dishes like fresh pastas, crab spaghetti, and grilled lamb. Fun fact: the owner, a Toronto restaurateur and self-described American history buff, first visited D.C. to see the Smithsonian museums, so it felt like the perfect fit for our history-loving crew!

The mocktails were a huge hit 🍹, and some of our adventurous travelers tried octopus for the very first time 🐙 and absolutely loved it! There’s nothing quite like watching someone discover a new favorite food on a trip like this. That’s what Legacy Journey is all about: new experiences, new memories, and saying “yes” to something you’ve never tried before.

We have a couple more stops tomorrow before we fly home to Denver. ✈️ Stay tuned for our final day!

Legacy Journey: Washington, D.C. | Day 4, Part 2 🇺🇸

After a reflective morning, our travelers spent the afternoon at Arlington National Cemetery, one of the most hallowed places in our nation.

Arlington was established in 1864 on the grounds of the Arlington House estate, overlooking the Potomac River and the city of Washington. Today it spans more than 600 acres and is the final resting place for over 400,000 service members, veterans, and their families, from the Civil War to the present day. The rows of white headstones stretch as far as the eye can see, and every one of them tells a story of service and sacrifice.

Our group also visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, dedicated on November 11, 1921, when an unidentified American soldier from World War I was laid to rest there. Unknown service members from World War II and the Korean War were later honored beside him. The Tomb has been guarded every minute of every day since 1937 by Sentinels from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as “The Old Guard.” Each Sentinel takes exactly 21 steps across the mat, pauses for 21 seconds, and turns, a tribute to the 21-gun salute, the highest military honor. Rain or shine, day or night, the watch never stops.

Our travelers witnessed the Changing of the Guard ceremony, a precise and deeply moving tradition carried out in complete silence by the crowd. It was a humbling way to close a day dedicated to remembrance. 🤍

We are so thankful to everyone who has served, and to the families who have sacrificed alongside them. A special thank you to the veterans among our own Argyle family.

Legacy Journey: Washington, D.C. | Day 4, Part 1 🕯️

Day 4 was set aside for some of the heavier, more meaningful moments of our journey. Our travelers began the morning at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Opened in 1993 just off the National Mall, the museum serves as our nation’s living memorial to the six million Jewish people and millions of others who were persecuted and murdered during the Holocaust. Visitors walk through the history in the order it unfolded, guided by the photographs, artifacts, and personal stories of real people. One of the most moving spaces is the Tower of Faces, filled with photographs of a single village’s community whose lives were taken. The visit closes in the Hall of Remembrance, a quiet space with an eternal flame where guests can pause, reflect, and light a candle in memory.

It was a powerful experience for everyone. There were quiet moments, shared stories, and a lot of reflection together. The skies were cloudy and rainy all morning, which somehow felt fitting for a day like this one.

We are deeply grateful to our travelers for walking through this history with open hearts. Their willingness to remember helps carry these stories forward so they are never forgotten. 🤍

Stay tuned for Day 4, Part 2.

🎉🌺 ¡Feliz Mes de la Herencia Hispana! 🌺🎉

Today marks the final day of Hispanic Heritage Month, and what a month of celebration it has been here at The Argyle! 💃🎶

Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15 every year to honor the history, culture, and countless contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. 🌎 It began in 1968 as Hispanic Heritage Week and was expanded to a full 30-day celebration in 1988. The September 15 start date is special because it marks the independence anniversaries of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Mexico celebrates its independence on September 16 and Chile on September 18, so the month kicks off with plenty to celebrate! 🇨🇷🇸🇻🇬🇹🇭🇳🇳🇮🇲🇽🇨🇱

Throughout the month, our residents and staff came together to celebrate the vibrant traditions, flavors, music, and stories that make Hispanic culture so rich. 🌮🎸 From [ADD HIGHLIGHTS: favorite meals, music, activities], it was a joy to learn from one another and honor the heritage of so many in our Argyle family. 💛

Check out the pics from our celebrations! 📸

¡Gracias a todos! 🧡

🇺🇸✨ Legacy Journey: Washington, D.C. | Day 3, Part 3 ✨🇺🇸

What a way to close out the day! 🥂 Our Legacy Journey travelers capped off Day 3 with dinner at La Grande Boucherie DC, and friends, it was an evening to remember.

Just one block from the White House, this French brasserie lives inside a historic 1920s bank building that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Think gilded ceilings, a century-old chandelier, Art Nouveau arches, and a grand curved bar topped with metal imported straight from Paris. 🇫🇷 Walking in felt like stepping into a Paris dining room from a hundred years ago!

🍽️ The food was AMAZING. Classic French dishes, beautifully prepared, and every plate came back clean.

💬 The stories were heartfelt. Around that table, memories were shared, a few tears were wiped away, and new chapters were written together.

😂 And the laughter? The laughter was nonstop, the kind that fills a room and makes the people at the next table wish they’d been invited.

This is what Legacy Journey is all about: not just seeing the sights, but sharing moments that matter with people who matter. ❤️

Stay tuned for Day 4! 🗓️
